I put these string on my scheter deluxe. Figured every bass player need a piccolo bass to play around with. These strings are very good per expected with D'addario. Soft to the touch bright sound with enough midrange and sustain to create some very nice upper register fast picking strumming, chords etc. Try it you'll like it
I bought these because I want to sound like Zach Smith (Three Mile Pilot, Pinback)--not that he plays these exact strings, but he does play a piccolo-strung bass most of the time. Anyway, a set of strings won't make you a rock god, but these are very fun to play. No magic happens with them... the only change is that everything you play is one octave above what it usually would be. The quality of these strings is very good, but be warned, they are about 1/2 as thick as normal strings and more likely to break than normal bass strings... I broke the "D" on the first set I bought while adjusting the intonation on my bass (I should have tuned down a full step first). I rate these highly and will go practice now so that I have some chance of sounding like Zach in this lifetime. :)
If you're looking to expand your versatility in your arsenal of bass guitars, this is the way to do it. These strings are comfortable to use on long scale or short scale. I put them on my Gibson SG and it's simply amazing. One Caution: You will need to adjust your setup fairly significantly to accommodate these strings. Well worth it though.
