I needed a controller that would operate at least 12 fixtures, with a minimum of 2 moving heads. This was the most affordable one on the market. Learning to program it was fairly easy, the first bank took me about two hours, but I can now prgram a sequence in under 5 minutes. Learning DMX protocols was the hardest part of the process. My biggest problem with the unit is its construction quality. I used my first controller for around 50 shows, and during one show, one of the fader controls, fell off. Then, a couple of weeks later, one of the scene selection buttons fell down into the unit. Keep in mind that it had always been mounted and transported in a shock-mount rack, and I was the only operator, and I take good care of my equipment, so it was not a question of mishandling that caused the failures. Also, the silkscreened graphics wore off rather quickly. I had the foresight to buy the extended warranty when I purchased the unit, and I still had about 3 months left, which was good. I think Chauvet has the potential for having a great product, but they need to improve the build quality.

this is a very easy lightboard to run. I use this at church every week to run lights for the band on Wednesday night on sunday I play drums so cant really do both. But once you get to messing around with this board it is very easy everything is set up right there for you to use once you get your lights hooked up to it of course. like the first slider is a red and if you take the third slider which is a blue you can make a purple just like mixing colors together in art class there is also a strobe feature within the board and ability to have each light fixture be a diffrent color and have all of your lights on a single channel and have all the lights change when you tell it to there is also a channel system that allows you to press a button and it takes you toa preset color which isent as fun
