This noise gate is the best noise gate I've ever used. Nobody in the world uses more gain than me. I have a gainy rack pre amp that is very noisy. I also use distortion pedals to push the gain that much further. I owned all kinds of rack noise gates that I had to sell cause they didn't do the trick. This pedal is awesome. I use so much gain that when I'm not playing there's a ton of noise and this pedal eliminates it all. It even has a loop to get rid of your pedal noise too. So I run the output to my pre amp to get rid of that noise and it gets rid of my pedal noise cause of the loop. I can't ask for anything more than that. Don't be fooled. Just because it's not a rack mount noise gate doesn't mean it can't do the job. In fact it can do the job much better and much cheaper!

I've used this for years. Most of the time the results are o.k. but not astounding. It will cut out most of the noise but I believe it also limits my tone. I swear my amp sounds better when I'm not using it. It can also be confusing I suppose. It's designed to have it's own effects loop. Once you understand this, it's generally pretty easy to set up. But as someone else said, you must read the owners manual. Look around. I'm not convinced that a straight up noise gate wouldn't work better.

Amazing pedal, no noise anymore. Very happy.
I tried this pedal out at the store and thought I didn't like it. After leaving (without the pedal) I watched a couple of videos of people using the NS-2 and thought, "that's not what I heard in the store" so I went back and bought it. I knew GC had me covered for 30 days, so I wasn't worried. If I didn't like it I would bring it back. Well, I loved it! I play blues, rock, jazz, funk, metal and I can say this pedal is the real deal weather your running clean or some hot distortion. Threshold all the way up. Decay just a little under 12 O'clock, and it sounds beautiful. I'm happily surprised, and am convinced I will always use this pedal live and in practice! Thanks Boss, and GC.
If you play high gain and have tons of noise (6505+) then the best way to use the NS2 is: Guitar --> OD pedal --> input of of NS2 --> NS2 Send --> Amplifier input --> Amplifier Effect Loop Send --> NS2 Return --> NS2 Output --> Amplifier Effect Loop Return. Awesome pedal for such a cheap price. It will suck some tone so if that's your concern and money is not an issue then the ISP Decimator ProRack G and G-string are the way to go.
I brought this pedal to reduce noise from my pick ups and pedals, it works really good. Even the amp is noise free, it doesnt cut tone or sustain neither, just read the instuctions and E.q. The decimater is another good 1, i just happened to try this one 1st. And im glad i did..
This product will kill noise when you are not playing anything. In my case, I am playing a entry level guitar with a practice amp and lots of pedals on the floor. This in mind I would say the NS-2 does the job very well. I would guess that the better your eguipment is, the better this product will work. You should be very happy with it.
Tired off all thgat noise on your high gain amp? This baby will instantly clean up all that noise leaving your tone intact. It also has a couple extras such as an f/x loop and a mute switch which is awesome for when your at gigs
All I can say is this thing is amazing. I had a show last night and we were doing sound check and my amp was having serious feedback and humming problems when the guitarist from a band that was coming on later asked if i wanted to use his noise suppressor. I plugged it in and all my trouble were gone. No string noise what so ever, it was like the guitar volume was off. The chugging still went through and the chords sustained right, it was perfect. I recommend this to any gigging guitarist out there, definitely worth your cash.
I bought this unit used at a local music shop today. No manual, etc. Once I finally figured out the correct configuration of my cables, I went crazy. My rig consists of a Bugera 6260 (modded with Mesa 440 tubes), with a Boss Ml-2 for distortion, a Dunlop Slash wah, and a stock ibanez art 100. The feedback from the distortion pedal was killing my performance no matter how much I rolled back the gain level, which took away my ability for pinch harmonics. However, when I put this in my chain it kept alot of the noise at bay. It mostly just cuts out noise when you are not playing, however does not act as a gate so you may get some noise while you are playing. I'm still tweaking the settings to my liking but am very happy with the results. It does exactly what it says. Thank you, Boss!!
Just got this a little while ago and I'm quite happy with it. It does exactly what it's supposed to and does it well.
This pedal is a gold mine. Without taking away your guitar's tone or sound, it cuts out the feedback right after you play. There are also options to adjust the decay,Threshold and even a mute setting. Before I got this I was so tired of the feedback that came out from my pedals. If you have a Boss Ds1 pedal or any other distortions pedals, this is a must to pick up! It's definitely one of the best noise suppressors out there!
