A great way to finish your tone.

By Trisk

from Minneapolis, MN

Comments about Boss GE-7 Equalizer Pedal:

The Boss GE-7 is probably not the first pedal you want to buy. Rather, it is a great tool to add a finished gloss to the various sounds you can make when you've got a couple of other pedals. I couple it with the Metal Zone MT-2 to create a massive, heavy sound. With a good overdrive pedal the GE-7 can clean out the noise to focus your sound for clear-as-a-bell leads. It can also add highlight to your Chorus, Flanging or Envelope effects. Accoustic or Clean? It can give you a beautiful rich texture not possible with a straight guitar to amp connection. I love what it does, but I have a couple complaints. First, I wish the sliders had more throw. In a darkened stage situation, you would have trouble adjusting its tiny levers. Second, while it has that great BOSS quality of construction and sound, it is EXPENSIVE considering it doesn't do anything radical to your sound. Still, for an advanced player, it is an invaluable tool to add the finishing touch to your sound. I personally love it and wouldn't want to be without it.

The Holy Grail of Equalizers

By I LOVE GUITAR

from Undisclosed

Comments about Boss GE-7 Equalizer Pedal:

This is an often over used expression but this pedal truly deserves it. It can get you any sound from warm acoustic to heavy rock n' roll. It is a 7 band EQ that takes guitar playing to new levels. The "knobs" are very sensitive and aren't just on or off. I can crank out any Wolfmother song with ease using only this pedal. I have tried it with different amps and it defines your sound greatly. It helps smooth it out and can give a rich tone while still rockin' out. BUY THIS!!

Boss GE-7

By RARic01

from Buffalo, NY

Comments about Boss GE-7 Equalizer Pedal:

The Boss GE-7 Graphic Equalizer offers seven bands of equalization in a compact, durable, package featuring low noise operation and silent switching. Seven bands of EQ are optimized for guitar, with up to 15db of cut/boost at the following frequency centers; 100hz, 200hz, 400hz, 800hz, 1.6khz, 3.2khz, and 6.4khz. There is also a level control for cutting, boosting, or equalizing the effected with the unaffected signal. I use it to fatten and boost my leads, ?scoop? the mids and boost the highs/lows for Modern Metal, tighten up a flabby clean sound for cutting through a mix, and to isolate and reduce feedback. Placing the GE-7 before an overdrive or distortion pedal allows you to actually shape and change the overall character of the OD/distortion. Placing the GE-7 after OD/distortion allows you to accentuate or cut specific frequencies and color your sound without radically altering the basic character of your overdrive. For ultimate tonal versatility, try using two GE-7?s. Place the first in front of your OD/dist pedal. Set the 100hz bass slider for a 9 db cut, because bass frequencies tend to distort disproportionately, producing a muddy or flabby sound. Also try setting the 200 hz slider for about a 5 db cut, especially if you are hearing a ?boxy? sound. Next, try boosting the pre-distortion mids to taste at 800hz for a crunchy, biting attack. Finally, set up the second GE-7 after your distortion unit. Bring the bass back up or even boost it a bit (try about 12 db of boost). Adding post-distortion Bass results in a tight, powerful sound. Add additional highs if desired. This is guaranteed to produce an absolutely crushing crunchy overdrive or a rich 80?s style Metal sound.

Amazing Difference

By Vergasguitar

from Vergas, Minnesota

Comments about Boss GE-7 Equalizer Pedal:

I bought the GE-7 becasue so many people were saying that it worked well as a boost switch for soloing. I play a couple times a month in a country/classic rock band and wanted something to simply turn off and on when soloing. The GE-7 was devivered to my school where I teach 7-8th grade guitar class. Needless to say, we don't have any professional amps or guitars, so I just plugged the GE-7 into one of the little Peavy practice amps that we use and grabbed a Samick Malibu. Man was I blown away. It litereally sounded like I was plugged into a large, warm, tube amp. Everything I played through the little practice amp was so much better, that I hated to turn the EQ off because the amp sounded, well, like a practice amp without it. I have a Palomino V16 that is my everyday amp and I haven't had a chance to run the EQ through that yet, but I imagine it will fatten up that amp as well. My only dilema now is I need to get another boost switch.

A MUST HAVE FOR ANY ROCKER

By Shamrocker123

from Pittsburgh, PA

Comments about Boss GE-7 Equalizer Pedal:

This pedal is an absolute hands down MUST HAVE! If you are pickey about your tone then your pedal collection is not complete without the GE-7. I utilize a huge number of effects when I play which has a tendancy to effect the signal tone. The Graphic eq pedal fixes all this! I use it directly after my boss MT-2 in the chain to give me a much thicker disortion that will pretty much melt your face off. If you have the cash this pedal is where its at.

Great supplement for boast

By Wai Wong

from Brooklyn

Comments about Boss GE-7 Equalizer Pedal:

This pedal will definitely give you a boast for soloing. This can work as a volume pedal to cut throught the whole band when you are soloing. It can also shape your sound the way you want, but beware of the feedback after the boast. It will work great if you have a noise suppressor, or else you would have feedback that will blow you up. I recommend this pedal over any volume pedals since you can do much more than adding a boast but also shaping your sound.

Saved me some $$$

By JP

from Texas

Comments about Boss GE-7 Equalizer Pedal:

I was about ready to disown a certain guitar amp because I couldn't dial out the piercing highs on the drive channel...I love the clean channel on this amp so I wasn't quite ready to give up...so I tried the Boss GE7 through the effects loop and sure enough, I was able to dial out the unwanted frequencies and accent the ones I wanted...problem solved and it saved me from shelling out more cash on a different amp!

5 stars only after modified

By Ewen

from Middle Village, NY

Comments about Boss GE-7 Equalizer Pedal:

This is a great little pedal...but only after modifications to eliminate the noise that it produces. It's a really noisy pedal due to cheap components. I wish Boss would produce two classes of each of their pedals (the standard affordable version and a deluxe version that doesn't suck out tone or produce noise). Fortunately there are a number of businesses that offer DIY mods - once modified, you will use this pedal on every song. If there were no mods available, I would have to give it 2 stars. If mods were not needed, it would get 5 stars. I'm giving it 4 because of the problem but because there are mods available.

Total Control

By B-dubs

from Rochester, MI

Comments about Boss GE-7 Equalizer Pedal:

I Have been using this pedal for a few days now, my friend gave it to me and i have loved it since. All of the music I play sounded alright but sounded somewhat sloppy and unfinished, although, through this pedal my music sounds studio quality. The sound becomes perfectly shaped, very well rounded, and I just love it.

This is a great pedal to add to the metal zone mt-2 if you play metal. This removes a lot of the fuzz and feedback, and it makes everything sound better. Totally worth the money, great equalizer pedal. Buy it now
