The dynamic crunch and warmth of the legendary Ecstasy amplifier's Blue Channel, now in a compact pedal.

The Ecstasy amplifier was born in 1992, and decades later Bogner is still hand building each amp, one at a time, in Los Angeles, California. The Ecstasy Blue pedal captures the classic Blue-Channel tone of this legendary amplifier, acclaimed for its ability to deliver iconic and classic rock 'n' roll crunch. It's no secret that the Blue Channel cranks out stunning Plexi-like tones, but when the going gets tough it can crush on demand as well.

Reinhold designed the Ecstasy Blue pedal with five discrete Class A gain stages and no op-amps or diode clipping, mirroring the circuitry of the Ecstasy amplifier’s Blue channel. This revolutionary approach provides clarity, touch sensitivity and note separation never before achieved in overdrive pedals.

The Ecstasy Blue is powered by a standard 9V battery or 9V power supply. Reinhold’s advanced circuitry internally elevates the voltage a substantially higher level. This higher voltage provides a greater dynamic range which closely resembles the feel of the Ecstasy amplifier’s legendary tube design.

  • Bogner Ecstasy Blue overdrive pedal

As reviewed by TODD ROTHENBERGER on 1/7/2013

First of all this pedal has what it takes to create all of the classic rock tones you could possibly want. Anywhere from early Rush and Zeppelin to Van Halen. I can't say enough about how good this pedal sounds! It's worth every penny, but the price is my only complaint. When I plugged it into the clean channel of my Peavey JSX I was immediately astonished by how close this thing sounded to the classic tones. I have been through quite a few pedals and this one is it for classic rock. It sounds fantastic through a tube amp haven't tried a SS amp with it but suspect it will sound the same. There are four switches along with the eq knobs. Starting from the right side of the pedal you have structure switch for 100th,101 and 20th that offer an eq and gain structure change. Then you have a Pre-Eq Switch: B1, N and B2 settings control ?openness? and presence of higher range harmonics. And then you have a mode switch for plexi and blue for the plexi is lighter gain than the blue but sound great of course then finally a variac switch which lowers the volume but creates some sag and it sounds just like AC/DC tone. Then of course you have bass treble and midrange with a master and a gain. There are also some small dials for the boost for volume and gain for the boost. This pedal rocks guys and gals! It is a must have on your board especially if you gig. Thank you Mr. Bogner this thing is premo ear candy.

  • Good Overdrive/Distortion Pedal

As reviewed by ROSS on 3/4/2015

I almost always prefer to get overdrive and distortion from the amp. Having said that, this pedal saves my eardrums, gives me loads of usable colors, and even improves the clean sound when set low. It can get a whole lotta distortion, esp. with the boost on, but I use it at moderate settings for a kind of classic rock sound. I can't say whose guitar sound it resembles, but there's a lot of classic tones there. It doesn't get muddy so easily as a lot of pedals do,in fact it tends toward the bright/clear side, but the tone controls work much better than usual, and all the subtle variations of the voicings sound good. I don't think it cuts the bass as much as a lot of pedals do. The variac simulation is exceptionally good, too, if you like the vintage amp feel. It's really quiet, so it's a good fit with finicky recording engineers. This and the Fulltone OCD are the only two pedals I use. I've been using it with a Gibson Les Paul R8, and a Music man Albert Lee hh. It's pricey, but worth it to me.
