I went into Guitar center knowing nothing about Wahs and asked the guy at the counter what would be the best. i wanted to get a very deep wet screaming wah sound. and he suggested this one it looked great i plugged it in and thought it sounded okay and thought i could change the sound more. but i was mistaken. i didnt realize at the time Guitar center works off commission so 90% will sell expensive stuff you dont need. i was young and naive.. the wah is horrible not versatile at all unless u use the distortion trigger and then u just get extremely irritating high treble distortion (like the one we all use to use when we first started playing) i dont even use it for a wah because its more like a half *** volume pedal with a touch of treble. it takes up an extreame uncalled for amount of power so you have to buy a diffrent type of adapter or use 2, 9 volt. In all this is a horrible buy unless you love slash and want this as a collectors item. If you want a REAL wah get the "Dunlop Crybaby 535Q Multi-Wah Pedal" you will paying for the pedal not slashes name that i personally taped over so no one could see. i was not the first person to be tricked into buying this wah only to find out its flaws.

I was really disapointed

By JimmyPageRocks

Comments about Dunlop SW-95 Cry Baby Slash Wah Pedal:

I bought this pedal being a HUGE fan of Slash and the tone he gets on his various wah solos. I got this pedal for Christmas and ran up stairs to try this baby out. The original wah on it was dead on- the nasaly and screamin sound of slash. However, I tried the distortion boost (main reason I bought the pedal) and I got this ridiculous and ear splitting feedback off my Vox Valvetronix amp. It was extreme feedback, not solved my moving the pedal away form the amp or cables, etc. Therefore this is a HUGE!!!!! warning!!!!!! THIS PEDAL ONLY WORKS WITH TUBE AMPS!!! IT DOES NOT WORK WELL WITH DIGITAL AMPS. Without the distortion boost this pedal was only as good as my old Hendrix wah... but way more expensive... so I took it back.

Best Wah in its class!

By Anonymous

Comments about Dunlop SW-95 Cry Baby Slash Wah Pedal:

Slash uses the wah with the soundboard. This is the closest thing to it. Tons of musicians use that same wah with the soundboard, but they cost $600. This is definetely worth what it costs very well priced and a very good investment.

excellent wah pedal

By CUJO22

Comments about Dunlop SW-95 Cry Baby Slash Wah Pedal:

dig this wah...sounds great with marshall's & pauls, which is what i use. i like the overdrive/volume, gives you the ability to dial in some bite, also like the led's, which are great when your on stage. the wah has a good sweep & doesn't muddy up in the lower registers. if you dig 80's-90's metal/rock, this wah will do the trick.

Great pedal

Comments about Dunlop SW-95 Cry Baby Slash Wah Pedal:

This pedal is great. It has everything you'll need in a wah and the tone of Slash. I've used the distortion on it with a 10w marshall and had no problems at all. The price is a little high but still worth it.

Slash Wah Pedal

By Erik Wiggins

Comments about Dunlop SW-95 Cry Baby Slash Wah Pedal:

I was skeptical when I first bought this wah pedal. I looked it over and I was like hell if I don't like it then I can always return it. I bought it, plugged it in and just reveled in the majestic tones this wah pedal made. Its costly but if you want to play your best then you need to have the best.

The Best Wah

By Jay Blair

from Ottawa, Ontario

Comments about Dunlop SW-95 Cry Baby Slash Wah Pedal:

After having this pedal for just over a year (got it Christmas, 2008) i thought it would be a good time to write a review. First off, the finish is a complete steal, the metallic red is just gorgeous. Also, I've played the original crybaby and also the crybaby from hell and i must say this is the best, in my opinion. It has that sweet wah tone you here on VR's Messages or in the solo in Sweet Child. its just perfect. and when the distortion is clicked on, it can be tweaked to get that Voodoo Child sound. I've played this at two gigs and nothing has went wrong, it is built like a tank. Also my bassist used it for a gig for the intro to For Whom the Bell Tolls, so with the distortion you can get that cliff tone. I would recommend the Slash Wah to anyone who wants that same killer wah tone that Hendrix, Slash, and many others have.

Disappointed

By Everett Chastain

from Granite City Illinois

Comments about Dunlop SW-95 Cry Baby Slash Wah Pedal:

I have used Dunlop products through the years and as a faithful fan of their products. Thats why I didn't have a problem with the price on this piece. I must say although I was quite disappointed. The built in distortion is probably one of the worst I have ever heard bar none. I would be embarrased to play out with this unit because this is what bad nights are made of! The sweep on this wah-pedal is limited in the clean and gain mode. The tone is pathetic. The only positive thing I can say asthetically the red case and LED's look good. This wah-pedal needs to go back to the drawing board. The wah has a pre-wah effect on the gain and acts like a volume pedal which is cool on an into sometimes...but you would have to completely bypass the wah after that! To much going on here or should I say not enough going on here. I guess no one made me buy this and I drove an hour through traffic on a Sat. to get this. I'll probably go back for the 535Q.

This pedal pretty much sucks...

By Justin

from Dallas, Tx.

Comments about Dunlop SW-95 Cry Baby Slash Wah Pedal:

I would like to start of by saying if you have a Vox amp like I do, don't get this pedal. The amount of feedback you get from this thing will be overwhelming. However, I did manage to find a way to adjust the settings on my amp the guitar and the pedal in such a fashion that I didn't get any feedback. But thats not my main disappointment with the pedal. The biggest let down was that not any more than a week of use and my pedal and it just stopped working altogether. Two of my friends whom also used to have this pedal BOTH got the same issue. So a pedal that doesn't work altogether gets an entire ONE star.

Hated It.

By Kyle Rogers

from Charleston, SC

Comments about Dunlop SW-95 Cry Baby Slash Wah Pedal:

Two things made me think I would like this pedal. It's one of the few genuine True Bypass Crybabies, and I wanted to go from a clean sound to a distorted wah sound (for stuff like Guns N Roses Civil War). I have a Dimebag Wah and used to have the basic Crybaby. Love them both. I thought I couldn't go wrong. The first thing you will notice is that this wah has a small range of motion. The next thing you'll notice is that in the heel down position their is a terrible volume drop. Far more pronounced than other crybabies. When you hit the distortion, you have two choices. Keep the volume knob low which dramatically increases the volume drop to the point where the pedal is unusable. Or turn the volume up, in which case you get the most high pitched squealing god awful tone and distortion you have ever heard. IMO the volume/distortion boost switch is just plain unusable. The basic wah is greatly inferior to other crybabies wahs. I love crybaby wahs. I am really shocked at how bad this sounds.

rip off

By robert losure

from washington dc

Comments about Dunlop SW-95 Cry Baby Slash Wah Pedal:

im a big fan of slash and was very excited to get this pedal. i listened to the audio online and it sounded good but when i took it home and played, i was pretty disappointed. The wah itself sounded alright but for the price i would expect way better. When you turn on the distortion, you get this awful sounding, noisy, cheap annoying buzz that sounds nothing like slashes tone. Ive had cheap distortion pedals that sound better than this distortion and wahs that sound better that this wah Also after a few weeks the blue LED burnt out which is unheard of, those things are supposed to last a lifetime. after having this pedal on for a few minutes, the volume started to decrease to the point where it was barely audible. i have a marshall jvm2105 and a gibson les paul standard plus, which is pretty close to slash's rig, so that can't be the problem. just get the crybaby original and the boss distortion and save some money on something that sounds better than this and probably sounds more like slash, because i can't imagine that he uses this same pedal even though it has his name on it.

Best Wah pedal, for GNR

By Jacob

from Tampa, Florida

Comments about Dunlop SW-95 Cry Baby Slash Wah Pedal:

I got this as a present awhile back and first off i didn't use it, i went to the internet and read about peoples experience and it was flooded with hate and it was screechy and annoying and the distortion was terrible, after reading this i was hesitant about using it however i plugged it in to my Acoustic G120 DSP, and it was horrifying, it was screeching making just god awful noises, so i tended to the switches and knobs and adjusted them just a tad so they weren't maxed and it sounded beautiful, the distortion was great and the wah was classic and crisp, this pedal is perfect for any gnr song as well as other songs belonging to blues, or even Metallica for some songs. Like all the other custom versions of wah i have tried including the Kirk Hammett and many others i like the tone to this one a lot more probably just because its appealing to me, i love this pedal and recommend it to anyone considering buying it.

Comments about Dunlop SW-95 Cry Baby Slash Wah Pedal:

I got this and have played many wah's. I am picky when it comes to wah's but this one truly has a strong wah sound and great tone. It also has the amazing distortion feature that when kicked in gives a heavy sounding wah.

Don't believe the hype

By JStern

from El Cerrito, CA

Comments about Dunlop SW-95 Cry Baby Slash Wah Pedal:

I bought this wah based on the reviews (and the fact that I dig Slash's tone) but must say I was rather disappointed in this pedal. Basically, what you get is a really well constructed wah with a really muddy distortion tone grafted onto it. I went back the same day and exchanged it for the Classic which was $70 cheaper and has a much cleaner tone. I would recommend that if your amp has a good overdrive tone that you are happy with, skip the unneeded functionality of this pedal and go with the basic Crybaby.
