The Bass Drum O's Hole Cutter accurately cuts circular sound holes in your bass drum resonant head for venting, porting and microphone access.

I bought this hole cutter to cut a 5" hole in my bass drum resonant head to install the Kickport (which by the way works very well, you should check it out.) The instructions are horrible. It comes with a peg with a sharp point. You have the put the peg in the whole that has the size you want. Each peg is 1 inch, so if you want a 5" hole, you need to put it in the 5th hole. I put it in the 4th by mistake and it was a real pain in the ass to make the hole bigger. This product worked well, but if you mess up, you will probably need a new resonant head. so buy it BE CAREFUL!
I picked this up to fit my hole (6 inch). This thing is cool looking and all but it didnt seem to work for me. It cuts the hole very well but the directons on the package are not that good and the drum O would not cooperate AT ALL. I ended up trying to remove it to retry it and I cut my front bass drum head and had to buy a new one. If you are considering a hole for recording or ventilation, I suggest the Aquarian front head with the hole pre cut because this thing does not work well at all.
This thing works like a charm for cutting a port hole in your reso head. You can cut anywhere from a 2" hole up to a 10" hole. The blade is good and sharp and cuts like butter. If you own a cutting mat I'd suggest using it, cardboard as a cutting surface doesn't work so good. Have you ever tried to purchase an 8" dampening ring? You can't because none of the big brands manufacture one. I used an old clear single ply head, cut perfect 8" dampening ring and the best part is you can cut it any width you want for different levels of dampening. I highly recomend this cutter if youre trying to cut a hole in any head for any reason.
