I just picked these up to replace my cheap Radio Shack phones that I stepped on... The ear cuffs are very comfortable so long sessions don't cause pain. The output volume is amazing - much louder than my previous set. The cord is nice and long so you have a lot of freedom to move around. Comes with 3.5mm and 1/4" stereo jacks of good quality. Auto adjusting head strap works great! Cons- I think the cord is poorly shielded, they pickup a good deal of 60Hz noise and that's a bit annoying. Also I tested the bandwidth and they work fine, nice and clear, from 20Hz to ~ 16KHz above that they attenuate the signal badly. So if you really need 20KHz these won't do. For the price they are very good. Once your playing through them the noise isn't an issue; it fades into the background. I would recommend them to all but the most picky audiophiles.

These headphones are not terrible. Nor are they AMAZING. I've had them for a few weeks, and they're comfortable and cool, however they produce a bit of static. I can't really play anything at the desired volume without the sound popping a bit. The sound quality is a bit muddy as well. The lows and the mids run together a bit, and the highs aren't very crisp. If you're on a budget then these are good headphones, but if you can afford better, then I would suggest kicking in a few more bucks to get something a bit more dynamic.

Great value, Extremely comfortable.

By Rob Rude

from Los Angeles, Ca

Comments about AKG K 44 Headphones:

The comfort alone is what makes this amazing!! The sound is actually better than I imagined, Good lows, and Hi's, but the Mids sound a little dull. Overall sound though is good not great, but if you need a pair of backup headphones, or Headphones for long sessions this is the one to get. They are so comfortable that after a while you forget you even have them on.

Great Value for the comfort/sound

By Silver Coulter

from Velpen, IN

Comments about AKG K 44 Headphones:

I've had these headphones for 3 days now, and I think that they are the best headphones I've ever had. I run a personal recording studio, and I'm on a tight budget. I have used these headphones often since I got them, and they are very comfortable. I didn't expect much for the price I paid, but I see no flaws. They sound great and the cord is really long! I've already recommended it to 4 friends.

Good Bang for the buck!

By Norm

from Lynnwood, WA

Comments about AKG K 44 Headphones:

I received a pair of these headphones for Xmas 2010 and have had them for a couple of months now. I use them as a secondary pair of headphones to my primary Sennheiser HD 280 Pro phones in my home-project studio ... and to take with me when I record or run sound at live shows. At their price point I'm considerably less paranoid of something happen to them at a gig compared to a considerably more expensive pair etc. I also use them with my laptop computer on a regular basis as well. For a fairly inexpensive conventional full size pair of headphones, they sound quite good and are surprisingly comfortable to ware. Highly recommend if you are on a budget of sorts.

Comments about AKG K 44 Headphones:

There amazing great comfort and everything but if you bend the cord the wrong way they don't produce sound in one or two ears. Other than that great headphones.

Comments about AKG K 44 Headphones:

I have had mine less than a year and while they worked they were good. the cord broke inside and i needed to get a new pair. i would not buy this same one again but rather a better one with a thicker cord or cable.

Great Headphones

By Keaton Thrift

from Clearwater, FL

Comments about AKG K 44 Headphones:

I just got these for Christmas because my parents were tired of hearing me play my guitar, so I plug them into my computer when I record videos covering songs and I play with them plugged directly into my amp. It seems as if there's a lot of bass, but other than that they're great headphones. They are very comfortable and have a nice long cord. I play in my room as if I'm having my own concert. Plug in some Attack Attack! and jam out on the guitar. Overall 5 stars. Enjoy. ;)

    Best Uses

Comments about AKG K 44 Headphones:

Overall I think these headphones are downright AWESOME. My primary use for these was for my Roland TD-11K electronic drum kit. I'm so glad I went with these instead of a pair of $100+ cans like I was originally going to do. They were on sale at GC and I had to at least give them a try for the extremely low price tag. The sound and features absolutely surpassed and exceeded my expectations for it's bargain price.
I was looking for something lightweight and comfortable that I could wear for a few hours at a time without becoming cumbersome. These AKG K44's fit the bill perfectly. Right out of the box I tried them with my iPod and iPhone for about an hour at max volume with no distortion whatsoever. I then used them on my electronic drum kit (with the included 1/4" adapter) for about another hour and the sound was flawless. I found them to be pretty flat with no annoyances or bad overtones at all. I also legitimately forgot I was wearing them because of how light and comfy they were.
I was also in the market for a closed-type headphone that had some good outside noise reduction. Once again, these really did it for me. With no music playing at all you can still hear a bit of outside noise, but once you get the jams going I couldn't hear a thing outside of the crunchy grooves. They were absolutely perfect for my intended use with the electronic drums. I could barely hear the tapping on the rubber and mesh drum pads, and to boot it has a nice long, flat cord that fits any use you can think of.
I truly couldn't be happier with my purchase. With fast, free, convenient shipping and an absurdly low price tag I don't think you can pick a better set of cans with a better overall value. Highly recommend and will absolutely buy again. Thank you Guitar Center!

You get what you pay for

      By Mike Button Jr

      from Billerica, MA

Comments about AKG K 44 Headphones:

I got these when they were 20 bucks around christmas time. My parents have a pair of headphones they would use with a walkman and they sound better than these. Horrible to mix or edit with, barely good enough for a monitor. Dont buy.
