  • Great Mic

As reviewed by Joe on 4/8/2010

If this mic is on your short list, get it. I didn't realize just how terrible the MXL990 was until my first recording with this mic. It is a little sensitive, especially with strong "S" sounds but a little EQ'ing easily takes care of that. Best money I've spent on my setup yet and that includes the Mac I record on.

  • Love it!

As reviewed by Spencer on 6/21/2011

I started off with sterling audio st51 cause i was recommend to buy it by an guitar center salesman it was a good mic! So i wanted to purchase a new mic since i sold it to pick up on some cash. I ended up starting my studio up again later on so i needed a new mic.... I was recommend not to get this mic but this is what i could afford i didn't want to get the same mic again! So i got this as an package deal after an a hole in guitar center told me i couldn't get the package deal. So when i got home and used it...wow it sounded exactly like me and most mic makes you sound different. The mic feels far from cheap I love it! and plan on keeping it for a while! Sometimes you gotta make decisions yourself and not listen to others cause they can cause you to spend more then what you need too!

  • AKG Perception 120

As reviewed by Eric Miller on 6/20/2011

I just bought this microphone over the weekend to replace my MXL USB .006 for lead vocal applications. The very 1st thing I noticed was the boosted sibilance this mic produced. The reason for this being that the Frequency is boosted from about 4-5khz steadily up to +5db @ 10,000hz and then slopes back down arriving at 0db around 15,000hz. Not quite sure why they would boost this specific range so much. De-esser will most definatly be needed with this microphone. The overall sound of the microphone is good, but not great. I would recommend this microphone to somebody on a budget, not to somebody who's looking for overall quality. The simbilance can get to be too much at times, and VERY annoying.
