Shure Beta 58A live vocal Mic

You want a mic that can handle whatever you throw at it? You've found it. I've used one Beta 58A for the last 3 or 4 years as well as the SM58 and the competitively priced Sennheiser 835 and 935 models in a wide range of vocal applications. Our musical style ranges from mid tempo acoustic pieces to modern rock and I've yet to find another mic that makes the transition so well. The Beta's clarity and feeback rejection is impressive, but above all is it's defined bass perfomance whether you're singing close to or further away from the mic. Which can make all the difference in an amazing performance and that "washed-out", "choked" live vocal sound. While it hasn't yet been a problem, my only pause for thought when rating the value of the Beta is the fact that the Shure manufacturer's warranty is considerably shorter than the Sennheiser products.

Handle too short

When will Travelpro develop a 46" handle like my 12-year old eBag? See attached photo. I'm tall, and the Travelpro handle is too short for me even when fully extended.

    I use this with my metal band and I can't say how empowering it feels to have your own microphone. I love how I got it to match my microphone cord. It has a great case that goes with and a holder for the mic stand. Worth every penny!

    I have a pretty deep baritone voice. I sing old country and 70's pop music. I've sung through many SM58's with good success. Is there a compelling reason to go to the sm58A beta?

    You get a bit more of the mid range with the beta. They would be similar in build quality, just a bit beefier in the middle.

    The Beta 58 has a wireless transmitter that requires a wireless receiver and the the Beta 58A is a wired dynamic microphone that you only need an XLR cable to use.
