  • A Definite Upgrade

As reviewed by Jordan Runsvold on 7/1/2013

Upgraded from a STAGEPAS 500 system to the new 600i. I primarily use the PA for playing back recorded music and movies. All of the new features are welcome upgrades, but my favorites are: -iPhone/iPod input. This input DOES work with the newer Lightning connector devices. I found mixed answers on this subject before my purchase, but after receiving my 600i and testing I can confirm that it does work with my iPhone 5. Sounds great and keeps the phone charged up. -Speaker stand clamps. It always bothered me how the old PA speakers fit so loosely on the stands, and I wasn't willing to scratch the snot out of my stands using the wing screws. The new clamps are super easy to use and hold the speaker securely on the stand without causing any damage. -Powered mixer release. Those coin-twist latches are gone! the slide latch works well and is easy to operate. The clip on the storage cover does feel a little cheap however. -The stereo/mono switches. On the 500 I found myself having to use two of the mic channels to get a stereo source in mono when needed. Now I can just plug it in stereo and hit the switch. The speakers have a smooth, satin black finish. They look great, but are going to show wear and tear much more readily than the old textured finish. The sound is still fantastic and the bump in power is great. Very happy that I upgraded!

  • A Solid Performer

As reviewed by dan walsh on 3/12/2014

I bought this PA specifically for my sons wedding. It was a smaller event, 60+ people, and I only needed to use one main, on a stand. I used an EV PL84S microphone (requires phantom power)in channel 1 and it blew the walls down during initial testing. I was able to place the microphone so that the pastor, bride and grooms voices could be clearly heard by everyone in attendance. This included hard of hearing elders and covering noisy children. One set of grandparents attended via Skype and they heard everything just fine from across the room. My son had assembled a song list on his Droid and that was easily integrated using a standard stereo minijack into the RCA inputs on the mixer. This system performed beyond my expectations. I am mainly a guitarist and bassist, so I really wanted a system that was easy to use, with rapid teardown. I see no reason this system shouldn't perform well with a much larger audience, especially when both mains come into play.

  • I got 99 problems but a Yamaha ain't one

As reviewed by Garett on 7/7/2014

I was looking to buy a PA system for under 2k. Many companies like Mackie and Peavey deceived me of their low costs, but in the end Yamaha was my best choice. The band i'm in plays rock/alternative to island music, and it fits the sound perfectly. The cables came all included, it was all easy to setup, i've had it for a month and 0 problems. I hooked it up to a dxs 15 sub and it sounds like madison square garden. fits on the stands great, and the speakers and mixer are light weight!! cons: i wish the back of the speaker had more room to store stuff like more cables, but it holds all of my cables just for the pa.
