I've had one of these puppies for about 3 months and am learning more as I work with it. The features are pretty incredible. It has 2 built in effects processors(with tons of different effects), a seperate compression/gate processor, 4 band EQ for all 16 channels, cool editing features and much more than I care to type! The only drawback of this fantastic machine is an editing error that occurs when you try to delete a section or sections of an extremly long song(like a live performance of 60 minutes or more). The hard drive can't read fast enough to process 24-bit deleting at 60 or more minutes, so just record your live performance at 16 bits( it's live anyway, who cares??)and the problem is eliminated. Other than that it's an awesome buy!!

  • Solid construction for a fair price

When I first started toying with the features of the 1600 I thought the Led screen looked a little unuser friendly and cluttered, but then when I learned the machine a little better I wondered how they could fit so much control in one unit! The input/track designation turned out to be quick and easy and the built in sample/dynamics libaries were a nice touch, with a nice solid metal construction it seems to be the most professional 12 or 16 tracker out there for much less than the competitions eqivelent.

This is a great little 24-bit easy to use all in one recording unit. This unit is incredibly easy to use, I was able to start recording without even looking at the instruction manual but I recommend looking it over in order to utilize the unit to its full potential. The AW1600 has a 40GB hard drive so it will store a large amount of material, but if you need more space all you have to do is transfer your files vial USB to your computer. This unit can record up to 8-tracks at one time which is a real value at this units price. The AW1600 also has 2 independent effects processors so you will have a good amount of effects to use. Most of the effects are very usable. The AW1600 also provides compress and gating on every track. You should be able to make a high quality demo or a nice independent release with this unit.
