So Awesome you will want TWO

I'm a 30 year Rocker, and Guitar Gear Hoarder... As I get older I strive to get the vintage cleaner tones out of the Instruments I've acquired over the years.. over the past year I have switched from playing a solid state fender (with onboard effects) to a 81" Fender Pro Reverb Tube Combo, and Built a custom Pedalboard.. Added a bunch pedals I had laying around since the 90's.. an older TubeScreamer and some OLD Ibanez pedals (Delay and Octave) That being said'. this was an improvement from my last rig.. and tone was good, But some of the old pedals sucked up my Tone and BITE.. I was insearch of some TrueBypass pedals, so when they were off, it was like they were not even there... about 3 years ago our singer bought a TcHelicon Vocal unit from GC and I was amazed at how awesome it was... so I decided to check out there guitar pedals... I am Blown away at this point with this company.. everything Tc does is VERY Excellent.. This company was the best of the best back in the day when needing any Rack studio gear.. "OK" now about this PEDAL.. I really wanted the Tc ALTER EGO delay pedal but GC does not offer this pedal, so on a whim i picked up the Flashback.. I was not disappointed at all, The very first setting (EVERYTHING at NOON) was excellent.. at this point I did not have a Chorus Pedal, So I was using the "MOD"-ulated setting.. VeryVerySweet. So I had to run right down and Buy another, the Corona Chorus.. after using it for a few weeks I did the hardware update and downloaded the TonePrint app on my SmartPhone. (actually pretty easy). This is when I realized My SEARCH was over.. Just watch some of the Videos that Tore explains some of the pedals. you will want them all. TONE.... This is where this is the BEST choice you can Make. This pedal does NOT drain any tone, even when it is on. it simply adds the effects in with your tone.. TONEPRINT.. OMG this is the greatest thing since Fender introduced Reverb... Basically these people put a ton of effort in making the CLASSIC pedals you love. and with the smartphone app,, You can ZAP your pedal to any pedal or setting you could want,, I downloaded a few of my favorites on my phone and on stage I can change my pedals with a press of the button. Seriously like switching out your pedals in the middle of a set.. NOT a very good looper.. But the rest is Better than any other delay pedal out there..

Good sound but needs tap tempo

The Flashback Delay is a very versatile delay pedal that will get you many different sounds and options. It is a really great pedal for sitting around and jamming with. However, it is not the greatest for live applications. For one thing, to change the settings, you have to bend down and turn the knobs instead of having different presets. Another problem is that there is no tap tempo. There is something kind of like tap tempo where you hold the button and then strum the tempo (it mutes your sound while you are doing this), but that restricts the player because you can not set the tempo while you are playing as you could with tap tempo. Also, if you want to change the tempo for a certain song, since you can't play and set tempo, you have to pause for a while before the song to set your tempo. A bit of a setback.

The pedal does not alter the tone at all. Looper feature is an added bonus. Multiple delay modes was why I purchased it. The reverse feature is also cool. Using with a Custom Shop Relic Tele through a Fender Princeton Reverb II (Paul Rivera era design) and the tone is absolutely superb.

So I've used this pedal for around a year and it's a cool pedal. Has a lot of options which is why I don't replace it for another one but I find myself just leaving it on the analog delay setting. The tone print for the flashback isn't as amazing to me as the hall of fame reverb pedal tone print is. Because delay is kind of just delay. But if you're looking for tons of different types of delays and delays with modulation and all that good stuff this is your pedal. But if you just want delay for the basics this isn't your pedal. The mxr carbon copy is probably where you wanna be.

  • Amazing Sounds; Just Needs Tap-Tempo

The Flashback has a wide selection of delay effects and includes quarter, eighth, and dotted eighth notes, allowing for tons of different combinations to make some really interesting tones. I love the design of the stombox (as I do all of TC Electronics boxes). My one negative is that there's no tap-tempo. If it had tap-tempo, I think it could be a near-perfect delay pedal. Still, it's a great delay if you don't want to spend the money on something like the MemoryMan.

Bought this as a replacement for one that was stolen (along with a couple others that were on my dearly missed Pedaltrain Nano) ... loved it then, love it now ... just try one, and you may end up thinking the same.

After using a Boss ME-70 for ~8 years as my only source of delay, I finally got a real delay pedal with the TC Electronic Flashback. After much research and testing, I narrowed my selection down to this and the Digitech Obscura. The Obscura was nice, but this sucker offered a wider selection of effects with the same quality of sound. I have only had it for ~4 days but I...I think I'm in love. I don't have much use for a reverse delay, so I know this thing is great because I spent like 45 minutes playing with the reverse delay today because of how great it sounded. All of the settings are great-sounding delays, but my favorite is definitely the tape. The only detractor for this pedal compared to other single-pedal size delays (like the Obscura) is that there aren't any tone-shaping options. Of course you have delay time, feedback, and effect level parameters, but other than changing the delay selection you have no control over tone. For example: the Modulated delay. Basically a flanged/heavy chorus mixed with a delay, but I don't really care for that much warble to the echos. Haven't gotten a chance to plug it up to the computer and mess with TonePrint (which is an incredibly cool idea) so I'm not sure if I can change other parameters in the software, but on the pedal there is nothing. That said, it's a non-issue on everything but the modulated delay for me b/c of how fantastic the preset sounds are. 4.75/5 stars, definitely worth the money. Wish I had the Triple Delay now...3 of these suckers would be sooooo nice.

  • Great Delay Effect. Clean versatile pedal.
