Taking the Jazzmaster to a new place.

Squier honors alt-rock godfather and Dinosaur Jr. leader J Mascis with a striking new Jazzmaster guitar model that delivers as much massive sound and performance as its namesake. The pickups, hardware and finish are all specified by Mascis himself for tremendous tone and value.

The J Mascis Jazzmaster features a basswood body, C-shaped maple neck, rosewood fingerboard with 9.5" radius and 21 jumbo frets, two single-coil Jazzmaster pickups with three-position switching and dual tone circuits, gold anodized aluminum pickguard, aged white plastic parts (knobs, switch tip, pickup covers), Adjusto-Matic bridge with vintage-style floating tremolo tailpiece, vintage-style tuners, chrome hardware, Vintage White finish and J Mascis signature on the back of the large '60s-style headstock.

After seeing the jazzmaster model back in '91 I knew I had to have one.but the price made it unattainable .UNTIL NOW! after review and research on other masters, this one is the best as far as getting vintage master features along with the mods to make it the best deal without dropping a grand or two for vintage .the jumbo frets are like butter on the board.the pickups are decent especially since the options are multiplied with separate volume and tone knobs and switches that even though people complain that they are mysterious and unwanted I love the mascis made sure to leave no stoned unturned when designing this gitter.color and finish even had the eyeballs of the GC guys glazed over in awe when unpacking this beautiful a fan of old dino jr. stuff so the signature on the back of the head stock is ....well ...irrelevant.THIS IS A STEAL !ive played it everyday and haveHAD IT FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS !even called in sick for work twice and played it all day .

  • Squire Jazzmaster

Where to start? The finish is an amazing satin finish on the neck where you can move up and down on it so easily. The pickups are so great, you can get a tele sound with the bridge and a true jazzmaster pickup sound when you go to the neck. The tremelo fits right in when you get it.The anodized pickguard looks really good with the aged white on the body. It is heavy, but thats not an issue. This guitar can play everything!

  • Looks, tone and incredible value!

I must admit I was a bit leery about buying a Chinese made guitar sight unseen, but I took a shot because of GC's excellent return policy, and I'm glad I did. First off, this thing looks like an aged but flawless 70's era guitar that's been sitting in a closet for forty years. It's that gorgeous! The neck stain and finish are as nice as any I've ever seen, and the overall fit and finish are first rate. Second, it plays like a dream, with great balance and easy access to the entire neck. Plus it's not too heavy, which is an issue with some Jazzmasters/Jaguars. Finally, it produces a distinct range of tones that work well for nearly any style of music. All in all a great guitar, especially at this price point. You will need to swap out the cheap strings and adjust the action when you first get it, but that's the case for nearly all new guitars. Yet another home run for the Squier/Fender line.
