Great beginner kit but.....
First off, this is not a full sized kit. Do not be fooled by the picture. This kit is small but definitely not f a full sized kit. Anyways, I bought this kit as my very first kit. This is a great kit in my opinion for novice players. It is definitely not for more experienced players. The sounds from this kit are acceptable but given the cost of the kit it should come at no suprise. The cymbals and highhats will need to be replaced immediately. The ones that come with the kit are basically thin sheets of metal with poor quality sound. Overall this is a decent kit but if you want a better quality and better sounds, you wil have to look into other kits. If you are a novice player and/or a young kid itching to learn the drums, this inexpensive kit is for you.

Good sound
Customer service told me on the phone that it was a full-size set. Well obviously not true. It is a scaled down version of a drum set was extremely cheap skins symbols and stands. Totally not worth it

Bought this for my son to learn to play. He is 7 and tall but I went with the smaller lower cost version instead. If he loves it and practices a lot; I'll buy something of higher quality, better sound and full size when he grows out of it (2 years at best!). Also did not want him to be frustrated if things are out of reach. Plus he doesn't care that there is reverb and the cymbals are tinny. He knows that it is loud and Dad has to crank up the volume of his guitar amp! Biggest problem is that the snare drum cannot be lowered farther. It is too high with the throne at the correct (at the highest). But if I get an hour free it will be MacGyver time.
Not for anyone over the age of 10

I knew this would be on the smaller size and not the best quality, but I figured for the price, I would at least get my money's worth with the hardware alone. I was wrong. I unpacked this just enough to see that the throne only came up to my shins. The floor tom is about the size of a normal rack tom, and the bass about the size of a normal floor tom. The cymbal is about the size of a dinner plate. I was really hoping this would be a kit my 12 yr son and I could use to mess around on but it is way too small for either of us. I packed it without going any further and am returning to GC as soon as I can.

Attempted to assemble the whole set, went well until it came to the floor tom. Screws were barely too short to screw the heads on. Im talking 1/16 of an inch too short. When i could get 1 screw finger tight, none of the other 4 would go. Luckiest i got was 4/5 on 1 side. No idea how to remedy this, might just have to play without the floor tom.
Broke first day..

We bought this kit for the band to just practice in the garage. But on the first day of setting up we had issues with the toms. The locks that came with the hardware to keep the toms in place , would not hold so the toms would move from 12 to 6 kept spinning. And drummer couldn't really use them.

I bought a open box SPL Pro Kicker kit , it's a good kit for me as I am a beginner drummer, a bit small for me but a decent set non the less, kicker drum a little tinny but a good pillow has given it more of bass sound.Better than I expected.....

So I noticed that on one of the pictures, it showed that the cymbals were sold separately. But in the features section, it explained it included the cymbals and stands. Does it come with the ride and hi-hat cymbals or not? Also, does the snare drum have a dry or wet sound? Thank you very much!
Yes it does come with the cymbals and the stands.submitted6 years ago

Would someone physically check at the store if the bass drum heads can be upgraded with tom heads? I read if the hoops are triple-flanged metal, that should be fine.
Although we do not recommend modifications we would be happy to look into this for you. Please email us a yourvoice@guitarcenter.com and we will get you in contact with you local guitar center store.
