Extended functions, more voices, and versatility that today's drummer demands.

The Simmons SD9K Electronic Drum Kit is the next step up from the popular SD7K, with the expanded functionality and sequencing capabilities that capture the essence of the electronic drum realm at an affordable price.

Upgraded features
The pads feel incredibly life-like, with over 700 realistic sounds and an expressive hi-hat. The bass drum pad accommodates a double pedal. With a dual-zone snare pad, dual-zone cymbals with choke capability, 40 preset kits and space for 59 user kits, the SD9K delivers state-of-the-art electronic sounds with USB connectivity at an unbeatable price.

Lay it down and play it back
No matter what style you play, you owe it to yourself to explore the world of recording and sequencing possibilities that this electronic kit offers. With its 110 preset songs and 100 user songs you will never get bored of practice while playing along or creating your own songs. It also features a built-in metronome that has a range of 30-280 bpm's (beats per minute).

Imagine the possibilities
The Simmons SD9K Drum Set has live, electronic pads and hand percussion options letting you add exotic sounds that would otherwise require a large and space-consuming collection of instruments. Drum giants like Vinnie Colaiuta and Josh Freese incorporate electronic drums into their live kits, giving them a far broader palette to work from. Plus, with many bands playing live to sequenced backgrounds, electronics are essential for triggering and interacting with your backing tracks. In the studio, the wide variety of sample libraries available make electronic drum sets more useful than ever. Just play the song, and use the SD9K kit's MIDI signal to trigger your choice of samples, and you'll have drum tracks that can be endlessly altered as you mix. Replace the snare, kick or toms, or combine multiple samples for a massively powerful wall of sound.

Bass pedal sold separately.

This Simmons Electronic Drumset comes with an industry leading 2-Year Manufacturer's Warranty.

  • The perfect kit

As reviewed by Erik on 2/24/2011

Ok, so I bought this kit USED about a month ago, sometime in early january. I got the kit because I am at school living in a dorm room, so I needed something to practice on. Because obviously, I cant even fit my acoustic set in my dorm room, and it would be WAY to loud. Before I ordered this kit, I was a bit skeptical because people were complaining and talking this kit way down, due to crappy pads, sounds, and things breaking and giving out. Well here is my opinion to all you. First of all, the pads them selves are rubber, most of them are dual zone triggers. The feel fantastic, the have great response, great bounce. They do feel like real drums. Except for the cymbals, and kick. The cymbals are rubber, so of course they aren't going to feel real. They do not feel bad though. People complain about cymbals breaking.. but i see people whailing on them as hard as they can almost.. c'mon, duh they're not going to be able to take that for too long. I mean.. I don't even treat my real cymbals like that.. and I play progressive metal. The kick pad does feel different than an acoustic bass drum, but once you get used to it, its not bad at all. And again, don't be whailing on it like a spaz, and it should not give out or break. This stuff is solid. The module itself isn't too tricky once you mess around with it a little bit. the sounds on it are decent, but you can set every little setting to your style and fine tune it and make it sound good. They are like 50 different loops, and songs you can play along to. and there's a built in 'click' which is nice. there is also an aux jack to plug in music or an ipod to play along too. I think that's one of the coolest features on it. The rack is plastic, and the clamps aren't the best. But you can tighten them up and they are just fine. Nothing slides around or moves when I play. So I give this kit 5 stars, and I am a drummer with quite a bit of experience and wit about drumming. Granted, this kit is no roland. But for the price you pay, this kit is, and feels amazing. The sounds aren't bad at all. And the pads are super legit and really responsive. So to all you haters and crapper talkers, and to clarify the quality of the pads.. The pads are solid. The only way they would break is if you treat them like a spaz and abuse them. And l play mainly faster progressive metal. So I bang on this kit pretty good for at least 2 hours a day. And it is worth every penny.

  • Great at first, then you start to see the true lack of quality

As reviewed by Ryan M on 9/23/2011

I bought the SD9K from Guitar Center a few years back. I played it alot for the first few months and it was ok. The triggers are slow to transmit the signal, so there are many things that you can't play on this. After 2 months, the hi-hat trigger went out (and yes, I know how to play an E-set...very softly). So I mic'd my real hi-hat and got rid of the Simmons hi-hat. Problem solved...for now. Then, I moved to an apartment and the neighbors complained about hearing the pedal hitting the bass drum, so I couldn't play them anymore for a year (and I was in a 2-story townhome on the ground floor!)...until I moved into a house, not connected to neighbors. Once I started playing again, the control unit began cutting off intermittently. I have done nothing but fight with kit since day 1. Now (about 40 hours of playing later) I can only play for 2 minutes and it cuts out. So I contacted support with Simmons and they said they'd send me another power supply (even though the problem is in the brain). I said ok and 25 days later, I still have no power supply. I contacted support again with no reply. I spent $1,200 on this kit a few years back and this was my experience. I HIGHLY recommend biting the bullet and getting a Roland with mesh heads if possible. Their quality is SOOO much better. Don't be fooled by Guitar Center's "Top Selling Item!" Hope this helps and good luck!

  • Why say bad things about a good product!

As reviewed by Robert Foster on 8/5/2011

Its a long sad tale about a drummer who lost his whole drum set.......but I wont bore you with such a tale....instead I will say this.....a lot of people knock this drum set....I have had this kit for a few weeks now, it was a sinch to put together.....and the sounds, if you take your time, and work with it....it sounds perfect...I've been a drummer for over 30 years....played with a few bands....had a 62 piece ludwig, tama set.....thats right a lot like a certain Rush drummer.....that being said, I am well versed in the art of purcussion, I don't have much room, and have neighbors, so an acoustic set was out of the question....I went to Guitar Center....sat down at a Roland set.....great feel with the mesh pads...the bounce back was perfect.....sat down at an acoustic set ......nothing like the real thing.....now my old set was worth over $62,000.00.....sold it for 45,000.00....again long story....now the Roland set was over 6,000.00.....to 1,400.00.....then I saw the Simmons SD9K set....I saw what you got....the brain of the kit...(thats what I call it)....was easy to read...set up....and fine tune....the bounce to me was closier to the real thing then the mesh pads.....so my wife bought it for me as a birthday present....thank you my love....now if I were you I would get the insurance....its not that much more money but well worth it in the long run.....if any of the tales come true about this set, you wont go wrong, and be able to get whatever goes wrong fixed or replace.....needless to say I got the extra insurance.....but no problems so far, I play everything from Jazz to Metal.....yes even Country from time to time....and the kit never misses a beat....double bassing is a breeze...if you get the double bass pedals...I got the DW 5000 set....really nice......like I said b4 if you take ur time, and fine tune the kit....which took me 2 days.....it truly sounds like a real drum set......I went back to Guitar Center and bought the Simmons DA200S amp for my kit....and that thing really rocks...a must buy for any electronic set....I bought the floor model amp and they threw in 3 sets of sticks free.....and bought the extra insurance for that as well....but all in all...like one other drummer here said....if you dont wail on the kit it should give you years of enjoyment.....if you buy a real kit and wail on it it wont last either....but to me its the best kit out there for the money.....you can't go wrong with this kit the amp and the extra insurance...take it from a drummer......BUY THIS KIT!!!!!! Thank you for your time! Robert Foster
