After much research and with my financial status, I finally decided to buy a pair of the famous SM 57's. I am a drummer in a band and had previously tried regular vocal mics and was not to happy about the sound when recording. The day I received the SM 57's was one day before our first gig at a local venue. Having them actually made me feel more confident that the sound would be superb. At soundcheck, the whole band realized the difference these microphones made to the drum sound. We were very glad, especially with comments after the gig such as, "the drums sounded very professional." I highly recommend these to anybody because not only are they great for live gigs, but also when recording. We just finished recording our demo and can't believe how well the drums sound.

Does the job well

By Kyle Allen

from Covington, GA

I use this mic to mic a guitar amp for live music. It captures every aspect of my tone (lows, mids and highs) very well! I run dual amps and I have been trying to find a mic that would recreate the exact tone of my amps through a sound board. This mic definitely delivers, now I have 2.

SM57 is it's name, Versatility is it's game!

By Matthew Sampson

from Fredericksburg, VA

The SM57 is a classic for a reason. First of all, from guitar amps to drums to horns, this microphone EXCELS at capturing high-spl instruments. Now, the SM57 IS billed as an instrument mic, but is that all it can do? No! The SM57 is also very useful for vocals, as it has almost NO feedback, even at high gain. Couple that with the Shure pop filter, and you've got an on-stage mic that will not fail. Speaking of not failing, this thing is made of steel and built like a tank! No breaking here, this microphone could be dropped off the stage and plugged right back in to get a nice, gritty guitar sound. Buy one! Buy five! Whatever the case, you won't be disappointed.

Great Little Mic

By Albin DeFreitas

from windsor ct

This little microphone actually packs quite a punch and gives a clear tone. I had to record something for a college counselor so i asked my guitar teacher and he pulled this microphone out and taped me. The finished product sounded better than I thought it would be.

unmatched

By alex wenger

from grove city ohio

we use a set of 7 of these about once a week for jazz band. they are often thrown around and get beat over and over again. they have withheld everything we throw at them. this also includes going out in the rain durring marching season and will often get dropped off of carts onto concrete and in all the years we have only had a problem with one. very pleased with the reliability and durrability of these mics

Highly respected in the industry

By Ted Morris

from Valparaiso, IN

What more can be said about this little guy? It's THE industry standard, hands down, this microphone is durable as all get out, and sounds crisp and clear, use it in almost any setting, guitars drums and in a pinch, vocals. Live, it cuts basically all feed back from front facing monitors, reasonably priced, buy at least one if you want to do ANYTHING in recording/production, heck buy 3 or 4!

great for live performace.

By Renato Leal Jr

from Montclair NJ

I bought it to record some vocals, acoustic guitar and percusion in my home studio but didn't like it at all... if you are going to buy this mic for the same purpose, buy any other condenser mic instead... Dynamic mics, like this one, are good for live performace... at least for me, who is beggining to learn about recording...

Great for vocals!

By frank

from los angeles,ca

I play bass and I use the SM57 for doing backup vocals in my band. it does the job well and have no complaints about it.the sound it produces is very true without coloration to your voice or tone. theres a reason why its an industry standard for instruments/vocals! i would suggest this for vocals and cab mic'ing
