  • Superior for the money

I bought a Shure SMS48 back in the '90's and it has proven itself an ideal performer for nearly TWO DECADES. My backing vocals sound clean, natural and loud, and I don't have to sweat getting an expensive mic lost or stolen. It's nearly half the price of a 58 and delivers 9/10ths of the performance. I'll admit 58's have a little something extra, but I detect very little difference between the two IMHO. For my harmonies and honky tonk stage chatter, the 48 is a perfect mic for the road. Thanks to Shure for another great product.

  • Great for drummer/singer!!!!!!

As reviewed by Lucas Pike on 11/13/2011

My band purchased this mic a little under a month ago and i love it the sensitivity is perfect for a drummer/singer like my self the sentive mic allows me to sit a good distance away and still be picked up loud and clear so the mic dosent mess with my drumming... the down side is that also due to the sensitivity it squells if your (screamer) vocalist holds it around the top as i'v noticed most of them do but thats why i use it.

  • cheap and useful

As reviewed by Doogie on 4/23/2010

Not as good as SM58, but if you need a cheap durable mic this is the best. I bought it for spoken word applications, it works fine for this but I don't plan on doing any serious vocal work. Get the SM58 if you can for a good all purpose mic. But if you know you only need it for speech, then save the money and buy the SM48.
