Well, for those who say this microphone isn't as good as a Shure SM58, you're right. It's much better. Warmer, clearer, larger sweet spot, more output before feedback. I don't understand the reviews describing this mic as muddy. I had it side by side with an SM58 plugged directly into a JBL EON with flat EQ. I tried the SM58 first then the e835. It was like wiping the fog off of a window. Suddenly I could "see" what I was missing in the aural spectrum. I haven't been this excited about a microphone in a long time! I put my SM58 on Craigslist about 2 hours after buying one of these. Don't hesitate. This is the new industry standard.
I'm disappointed with mic. I've always been a wireless mic person (shure slx) but so many people have been telling me the Sennheiser corded mics are the way to go. For me this mic didn't work. I sing lead vocal and had a hard time cutting through the mix. The power just wasn't there. The hi end of tones weren't great. Unfortunately I'll keep it in my bag as a back up, but definitely not my first choice.
I bought this mic about 4 months ago and it is gorgeous. I sing Post Hardcore music, some clean vocals and some screamed, and this thing has no problem going between the two, it works perfectly. As soon as you take it out of the box you can tell it's durable, it's got a nice weight to it and just feels very solid. It proved its durability when i was practicing and twirling the mic around by the cord and it slammed into a wall because i wasn't paying attention, it didn't affect the functionality at all, and barely left a dent in the filter! Woo Sennheiser! This is a good buy for anyone who wants a durable and even tone mic!
