Good for casual listening
Well to start off these are constructed pretty well so they should last a while. The sound quality is decent but I would not recommend them for recording applications. If you want some headphones to listen to music with from a CD player or MP3 player these should be adequate. I found them to be decent at best nothing special. They sound a bit flat and the low and high signals are nothing impressive. These are good middle of the road listening headphones.

I definitely would not recommend these
Being familiar with the Sennheiser brandcomma I was very excited about having the option to purchase a value priced pair of headphones. I've never had anything but great experiences with Sennheiser. Until now. The hd201 has poor sound quality they are bulky not heavy but hot even when I crank up my cell phone I'm just getting volume level that blocks out surrounding noise. I purchased these so that I would be able to practice my kurzweil keyboard without disturbing my neighbors. I have to crank the volume to Max to hear . The low in is practically non-existent and the high-end pales compared to other stereo headphones in the same price point. I'm keeping these however looking for a better upgrade maybe Audio-Technica im50 or a pair of Shure s or even the Focusrite brand that are paired with my interface. I certainly do understand that the Audio-Technica and the Shures are of a higher quality than these hd201'but even my $20 Sony earbuds and a $25 pair of creative Zen's sound better than the sennheiser's hands down. I'm not sure if I just got a poor production run of the Sennheiser HD 201 or what?? I don't recommend these for any over 12. Ijs. I apologize in advance for autocorrect this is being dictated not actually typed.

These sound really great for the price point. I don't understand people here saying they sound terrible. I am a professional audio engineer with 30+ years experience; I can tell you, you won't find any headphones at this price with this kind of quality sound. The only problem I've had with them is that the coating on the pads falls apart after a few years and flakes off and then you have to replace them. These are fine for everyday use. Yeah, not audiophile quality, but great for mowing the lawn, taking a walk, etc.

I was flying abroad and wanted something that would cut out the noise of the plane without breaking the bank, so I went ahead and bought these and they didn't disappoint. They were comfy the whole 13 hour flight and survived me throwing them in an out of my backpack carelessly the whole trip, and the guy next to me accidentally sitting on them on the flight home. However, they could use a bit more bass, and the cord is super long if you're using these anywhere besides a computer. I'll keep these around for casual computer work or late night jams on my amp, but I'll see what else Sennheiser has to offer for recording because I need a bit more bass than this one gives. Overall great headphones for the price

I use these to hear my mobile recordings and practice. They work great for picking out the hard to hear notes and tone variations. Best for the price. Love the long cord as well for moving and playing.
Not made for recording or people who like bass.

Bass? what bass? these things have just about no bass what so ever, just lots and lots of treble. There durable and comfy, but the audio quality was bad. Terrible at monitoring guitar, its just all treble and nothing else. There not good for just casual listening, because again its all treble and mids. But they are good for listening to people talking, like watching youtube or something. When its just people talking, they sound really good, but when it comes to music and recording there terrible. If you want a cheap multi purpose pair of headphones for casual listening, recording, etc. I suggest spending a little more and just getting a pair of AKG 44s.
