Rolling rack for the mightiest of mixers!

The Mighty GigRig Rolling Rack System features a deep design (14U+) which holds deeper analog and digital mixers (Yamaha 01V96, Allen & Heath Mix Wizard, Mackie Onyx, etc.) The deep design allows rack gear to be mounted on the 6U front rack rails and additional rack gear mounted on optional 6U rear rack rails for a total of 12 rack units on the bottom.

The cover is designed to be used as a stand for the GigRig and places the mixer at proper mixing height when it is open and in use or the cover can be removed for a lower workstation making the new Mighty GigRig versatile for audio and AV applications. The cover will fit over installed XLR cable connectors (top or rear mounted.)

The Mighty GigRig comes with locking casters and an optional wheel set for Marching Band/School applications.

  • Works very well for me

As reviewed by Louis Godey on 4/17/2009

Nice and light for it size. I needed something for live sound reinforcement (not a heavy flight case). I use it for a Mackie Onyx 1640 and it fits with room to keep the cables connected. I added rails to the back and it fits all my EQ's, effects, DBX driverack, power conditioner and patch bay. I agree with the other review "Needed Some Mods" heavy rack mount gear would need some additional support, but there is lots of room to do so. The handles and wheels feel nice and solid. The top could use a little more strength, as it would be nice if you could stack 200 lbs on top when it is closed.

  • Plenty of room, but it has its weight limits...

As reviewed by TexasTim on 3/19/2010

I was looking for something with a lot of slant rack space, and the Gig Rig offers up 14+ U on the top. The ability to use the cover to bring the rack up to working height is a real bonus. As mentioned in another review, this is probably NOT the right rack is you have alot of amp weight, but for me, it's perfect. I have a mixer, light controller, EQ, mixer lights and an AV shelf on the slant rack, so it's LOADED. I only have a power condition and a 3U drawer to store cables and mics in the bottom, (no amp...I use active speakers), so no excess weight issues. The AV shelf is a GREAT add-on for the Gig Rig if you're using any kind of a laptop...

  • Needed some mods

As reviewed by daviver on 6/7/2007

Interesting that the web photo for the SKB Mighty GigRig Rolling Rack System shows two yamaha amps mounted in the rack. I own the same amp pictured and I found the rack frame sets too far forward to accommodate the amp grips with the front panel cover on. You can see in the photo the grips project over the two slots that the panel slips into. However this turned out not to be an issue since I found the rack really isn't strong enough to hold two of these amps securely (or even one). Fortunately there is enough empty space in the sides to build a structural steel frame. I removed the rack mount rails, put in about $40 of slotted angle iron and reset rack mount rails deeper and to the steel frame instead of to the plastic walls. I also added some rear anchorage points for the amp. Works fine now and is better balanced for carrying. Nice functional design, just needs much heavier duty hardware.
