The SKB AV Shelf has a scissor design that allows the shelf to remain connected to an SKB Mighty GigRig or GigSafe while the lid is closed. The hook and loop surface of the A/V shelf is ideal for laptop computers, projectors, or monitors. The shelf's steel arms only require 2U of rack space for secure mounting.

I was a bit skeptical about a folding shelf being sturdy enough for my laptop, but figured I'd try it anyway... This thing rocks! The shelf remains level with the floor, regardless of the position, so you're not gonna' have to worry about your stuff trying to slide off. In addition, the entire top of the shelf is covered with the 'loop' side of the 'hook-and-loop' fastener material, and a good length of self-adhesive 'hook' side is included for your gear. I'm using mine to mount a laptop above my mixer, and this works perfectly!
