Always check proper fitment! I received this case for Christmas, accompanying an Ibanez RG7420 which had to be special ordered and shipped to the store. When my family picked them up from the store, they were given the guitar and case in their requisite shipping packaging. Only once home, did we find that the guitar does not fit. There is not enough depth in the case to allow for the angled headstock. The tuner closest to the tip digs into the bottom of the case, and the neck is still a quarter inch away from resting in the case as it should. Upon visiting the Guitar Center closer to my home, and comparing the same model guitar in the more common color, it wouldn't fit any of the cases they had in store, and apparently I will need to order the proprietary case direct from Ibanez. This is still a nice case, and I plan on finding a nice 6 string with a flat headstock, or perhaps just one that is not as long. If the tuners were arranged side-by-side, it might work even with an angled headstock... I am disappointed that the Guitar Center site and personnel are not aware of any fitment issue regarding these crucial dimensions for proper protection. This case was recommended and purchased with this guitar specifically, as a gift, and I am now on a rabbit chase to find a case that will actually fit.

I bought this case from Guitar Center in Orange, CT, in a moment of atypical, ill-advised cheapness on my part. This is one of, if not the very cheapest hard shell-type guitar case that you can buy from a big box store like Guitar Center. It's the cheapest for a reason. This case is more of a hybrid between a gig bag and a hard shell case. The outer shell isn't like more high-quality and costly cases. It has more of a rigid rubber feel than a true hard-shell case. I'm not exceptionally hard on my gear while taking them out to shows. In fact, I'm quite cautious. But so far, I've brought this case out twice for gigs, and the outside has gotten very banged up. Just from two light gig outings, there are gouges in the shell of the case. As a result, I would not recommend this case for gigging. However, this case is fine if you like to keep your guitars in hard-shell cases in our house and have no plans on transporting them many times over. The handle latches are fine quality, the lining is soft and protective, and the accessories compartment is very large (a big plus!). The universal-style nature of the case is also appealing. I had no problem fitting a Tele, Strat, and Mustang, but it was a slightly tight fit on my Jaguar, due to the oversized body on it. Should fit an SG, and other comparably-sized electric guitars just fine. Bottom line: This case is fine for your storing your guitar in your house, but think twice about taking it out on the road.

Bought this for my daughter to fly to college. Great locking mechanism. Made it across country almost unscathed. Just a little tear in one corner.

I picked this up on a whim while buying a new guitar. They didn't have any Schecter OEM cases for my C-1 body guitar, so this was the next-best thing other than a soft-side gig bag. At first I thought it would be fine for the guitar, but I didn't inspect the fit carefully. Not until I got home did I discover that with the headstock and body style of the C-1, the neck does not sit in the cutout intended for it to rest on, so the weight of the guitar is on the very tip of the headstock instead. Not having the neck fit snugly in its slot also allows for the headstock of the guitar to swing back and forth inside the case. You will need to put something under it or the neck to elevate it just enough to lift it off the bottom of the case; this then puts extra stress on the guitar when it closes in places where it was not designed to press down that firmly. Overall, this is a "Gets the job done" case, but just barely. I intend to trade in the Road Runner towards a to defray most of the cost of the OEM Schecter case.

I use this case to protect my Danelectros from the weather and two young grandsons. I do not play out so wear and tear is not a problem for me. It is not a "road case" in the true sense of the word but it is good for protecting your investment. If you want to take this case on the road, it ain't gonna come home pretty.

The case really does the job for short trips. Plenty of storage and keeps my guitar from getting banged up. A nice case.

Ordered a guitar from GC Used and it came in one of these cases. While it was a nice little bonus since I didn't have to carry the guitar (PRS) home in a plain cardboard box, the case leaves black fuzz all over the guitar everything I remove it from the case. I have a slew of other cases from Ibanez to Gibson to Gator and they never leave a mess on my guitars. I can't speak on longevity or whether the shedding stops over time. I used this guitar for a baritone PRS at 25.5 scale length. It's a double cut body and lies pretty loosely in the case. There isn't a slot to hold the neck in place while carrying it by the handle. It does have room for extra stuff in the neck rest box. The latches have a budget feel to them as well. The handle felt fine. I will try 2 other guitars in it and post an update review if they fit. I have a 28" scale 8 string and a 27" scale Agile 7 string ESP SC Tele. If you don't see a follow up review, they didn't fit. Right now, that would be this case's only saving grace. At this price point, spent $20-40 more and protect your gear or just gig bag it. Gig bags are very safe for most travel situations like going to practice or carrying it to a luthier.

Great case! Not meat for Les Pauls...

Comments about Road Runner RRDWE Deluxe Wood Electric Guitar Case -:

This case might look cheap at first, but I have to admit it's a solid case! Its built very well! I got a Gator wood case and they look practically the same! This case fits my Shecter Hellraiser just fine, I also tried it on my Epiphone Les Paul, but the guitar wiggles inside when I pick it up. Also, on the Les Paul, the case is a bit harder to close. So if you have a Stratocaster shape guitar you will be OK! if you have a Les Paul you might want to consider another cause.
