I purchased a Rane AC23b last year to use as a stereo 3-way knowing that I would be upgrading to a stereo 5-way the next year. When it came time to order another Rane, the AC23b was replaced with an AC23S. Same unit but with an internal power supply. So I took a chance that my AC23B would sound the same as the AC23S. I could not tell them apart except for the look. Bottom line here is that you get what you pay for. Anyone wondering if a 5-way system is worth the extra money and hassle need only hear one.
