PreSonus—Eris Studio Monitors

Description
Designed for clean overall sound, a smooth high end and a wide sweet spot, the Eris 4.5 studio monitor pair utilizes a woven composite low-frequency driver. The weave and nature of the Eris E4.5 speakers’ 4.5" woofer result in tight bass that you can feel, as well as a cleaner overall sound. The 1" silk-dome tweeter produces a smooth and refined sound, accurately reproducing transients and high frequencies. The tweeter is designed to radiate sound with a fairly wide pattern, creating a large optimal listening area, or “sweet spot,” so you can move around and still hear an accurate stereo image. With 25 watts of onboard power per side, Eris 4.5 monitor speakers pack a serious punch, while still delivering clear, accurate audio.
With three different types of audio inputs, it’s easy to feed audio to your Eris E4.5 monitors from almost any source with a line output. Play games, listen to music, and even create content with a computer, media player, mixer, or other line-level source using the Eris E4.5 speaker’s rear-panel, 1/4" TRS and RCA inputs and front-panel, 1/8” stereo inputs. A loud, clear, front-panel headphone amplifier lets you work and play in stealth mode, without disturbing your housemates.
The Eris E4.5 offers consistent, accurate listening, with the smooth and even frequency response that has made Eris studio and media reference monitors popular around the world. Their compact and powerful design makes them an ideal solution for any small space. The Eris 4.5 monitors also include a special edition of Studio Magic, a suite of over $1,000 USD worth of music software including Studio One Prime and tons of plug-ins, loops, virtual instruments, effects and tutorials. The Magic edition of Studio One Prime is compatible with all of the included plug-ins and, because they're included in VST, AU and AAX formats, you can also use them in any DAW you’d like. It doesn't matter if you’re working on your first podcast episode or your tenth Grammy—you'll soon find yourself conjuring from the book of Studio Magic.

ERIS 4.5's are a BIG Surprise
I was expecting some basic computer monitor type speakers, but was overwhelmingly surprised with the product. It delivers a full low-end sound packed in a professional casing. I was even more pleased that it came with speaker wire, a 1/8 connector cord and the power cord of course (because they are powered). And all this power fits snugly on a desk. I run it with my laptop, Novation Impulse 61, PreSonus Audiobox iTwo (black), and my android phone. Great mobile rig.

Expensive Paper Weight
As far as sound it was ok at first. Mixes translated terribly, being too boomy, too shrill, or both. So I used the aux input to my computer where it happily sat far from ever ruining a mix again/checking mixes. I learned to be happy with them for this application despite not being used for music production; their intended purpose. Fast forward 2 years later and the woofer amplifier is going bad and now everything sounds awful through these. Once again Presonus delivers in spades in the Poor Reliability department. With a bad amplifier, I couldn't even sell these at a garage sale for 10 bucks. Currently they are quite literally being used as a paper weight. Once I find a better weight they will soon find their new home at the local dumpster. Well, at least they're good for something. At 200 bucks that's 100 per year average cost to me which is extremely poor considering they failed miserably as a secondary monitor in the first place. Good riddance Presonus. Never again will I buy hardware from you!

These little speakers are impressive in their sound quality and in particular, the bass response. I'm happy with them for the price point, no question. The only thing that I don't like is that there appears to be a built in noise gate. This causes a weird dip in audio, between words and at any pauses, when listening to audio books. I know that isn't their intended purpose, but it is something to note. If the speaker trails off or pauses for a sec, there is a clip where the noise gate kicks in, then another where it releases. Result is hundreds of clicks on and off through the course of a four hour book.
Better than I expected

I "downgraded" from a nice set of Yamaha HD8's (keeping them though) I needed something more suited for lower volume in a small space. These Eris E4.5's are hooked up to my Helix and they really sound great with that! I can play at low volume without disturbing anyone a night and have an immersive experience. I don't think I would use these for mixing but they have a nice sound stage and pleasant tone coloring. Well worth the money. No issues with hum or noise of any kind. (I don't recommend using the cheap cables they come with)

I'm thinking of buying studio monitors, and i came across this one. I would like to know if this could be used for a KORG KROSS 2 synthesizer?
You would need to have a power amp since the synth doesn't come with one built in.
