Nice Affordable Snare
Wow! Pork Pie has really created an awesome drum. This drum is very cheap in price compared to most other drums of its quality. It is very comparable to the Ludwig Black Beauty. Tune it low for depth and softness, or tune it high for crisp attack, great response, and high end crack. Its versatility makes it great in so many different musical environments. The Big Black looks and sounds very expensive, yet is so affordable. Overall it is a beautiful looking, sounding, and performing drum, I am very pleased.

Great looking snare with an awesome tone to match!
This Pork Pie Big Black snare is totally happening! The 6-1/2" beaded brass shell sounds deep with a wonderful TONE only a brass shell can deliver and rimshots will destroy you! Crips & clear stick response on any part of the batter head with minimal snare buzz. I usually tune my snare drums fairly tight and the Pork Pie BB absolutely delivers! It sounds very close to the snare tone of SOAD's John Dolamayan on the album Toxicity which was a Tama 6-1/2 x 14 Bell Brass snare.
The Pork Pie BB is an awesome a copy of the a legendary classic snare drum (Ludwig black beauty)from the beaded black chrome brass shell, tube lugs, to the Ludwig-style throwoff without the hefty price tag. Truly a classic with a tone of it's own. I replaced the the stock head (which doesn't sound bad at all) w/ a Remo Coated Ambassador. I would like to thank Charles from Drums dept. at Guitar Center Tukwila, WA for being so helpful and giving me an awesome deal on the Pork Pie BB snare. I'm very happy with this purchase and the Pork Pie BB is definitely a keeper.

Big Black Attack!!!!
Wow, I just purchased this drum recently from my bud, Terry (pronounced--"Turry", LOL!!!) who works at the Atlanta GC. I have been very pleased with the sound and the versitility in tuning it either high or low. The depth gives it a very nice punch while the metal shell projects all the way to the back of the venue.
This snare replaced the stock snare that came with my mid-level, Mapex kit which had just absolutely fell apart and left me stranded. I was very excited to learn that the Big Black would not break the bank while looking and sounding great! I thank Terry for his time and recommendation, as with all GC employees who are always offering their own, honest opinion in helping you select the right gear for the right price.

Great snare for an affordable price
This is one sweet snare for the price. It has a very full tuning range. You can tune it way low or crank it up really tight and get an extremely cutting sound. The tube lugs are a nice touch. This is a nice all around snare.
