This product really helped build muscles on my hands. I also use it on my right hand for faster picking. I used this product for about a month and I noticed quite a difference in my hands. I noticed that I can pick faster, and my fingers could play fast licks that I would barely do when I just started using it. Also barre chords that used to be annoying and hard to do are like a piece of cake. The callus builder is useful, but I use it in a different way since the exercise directions for the calluses didn't quite help. If you want a difference in hand strength, get this fun exerciser.
I've had this for device for almost a week now and I must say it really does help out with guitar playing. It helps you develop endurance and dexterity with your fingers. I can do hammer-ons a little bit easier and faster now and I have a little more control with my pinky finger. If you have trouble with your pinky finger with guitar playing (Which a lot of people do), I definitely recommend this for you!
Let me start by saying that at 40+ I'm a true beginner, I bought my 1st guitar, an acoustic, on Friday and didn't start my first online practice session until Sunday. Immediately I realized that I lacked the finger strength and flexibility to navigate the fretboard and started searching the Guitar Center website for ways to improve. On Monday I called my local Nashville Guitar Center store to ask what they carried in stock. The first person to answer the phone did not have to transfer me, he very quickly said that they carried the Varigrip by Planet Waves and that it was very popular, he also mentioned that they could special order any item that was shown online. I stopped by after work and purchased the Varigrip and opened it after I got to my car and started using it on the way home. At first I wasn't sure that this was anything more than another grip strengthener....but later after practicing for 30-40 minutes with my guitar I noticed a difference and afterwards I picked up the Varigrip and continued to work my pinky and ring finger. The callus builder aspect of the exerciser is still too early to rate, I did use it and my finger tips are definitely feeling it...so far...so good. My one regret is that I should have purchased this before my guitar. This should be your 1st purchase as you decide which guitar to purchase...think about it, if you wanted to run a full or half marathon wouldn't you train first? Of course you would and this is guitar training for your fingers and thumb, trust me you will thank me for this advise!
