OK for the price
I haven't played in some time. I'm Amazed how far amps have progressed since. This thing is quite a bit louder than 15 watt amps of the past. It has nice sound. Nothing spectacular but good. I do like the different amp and effect settings. Pretty cool. I only wish you could choose more than one at a time, like on the Vypyr 30 on up. Overall good amp for a budget player.

Peavey Vyper Review
First, I have not had this amp for long, and haven't fully inspected it, but if I wait longer, I won't care to write a review for it.
For the good, this amp has an amazing, almost tube-like tone for its price range, with really pulsing high-gain punches, or warm and tasty clean tones. The delay is very customizable, and allows very long repeat intervals, to have some fun. There's a very wide quiver of amp models that get progressively gainier at a nice slow pace, allowing you every tone from either end of the amp, unlike Line 6, which really gaps from model to model.
For the bad, the construction of it seems weak and unreliable, the master volume has a very small pocket of "bedroom levels," and the controls are a little odd. THERE IS ONE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE characteristic of this amp, the Pinch Harmonics sound very, "sandy." There's a lot of distortion of the harmonic, and not really a good kind of distortion. Natural harmonics sound alright, and even Dimebag/Whammys, but the pinches are not very squeeky, as they should be.
If you listen closely, you can hear that this amp picks up a very faint sort of scratching noise from your finger being lifted off of a string. It's not very noticeable, but sometimes you'll hear it (untrained ears won't.) The effects are very customizable, with separate Reverb and Delay controls that are very handy. With high-gain cranked, this amp still delivers clarity to your chords. I would not recommend this amp to a beginner, because the tone controls have actual serious influence, like a professional amp would. Let's face it, most amps in this price range, and even beyond it, have only a few tones that are lightly tweaked by the controls. This thing really requires you to know how to work an amp to get a desirable tone. I'm not sure that I trust the volume control, and I don't think it gets loud when max'd, but I really haven't had the chance to try, yet.
Excuse me if you found this review unclear, I tried to list the good and bad features, rather than explain one feature, or tell you how much this amp rocks.
PS, being the owner of a Peavey XXX, I feel the XXX is very poorly represented here.

Awesome amp
I just got this today. I pulled it out looked at it and thought wow look at all the effects this baby has. I plug it in start going through all the seting, seting presets, messing with the effects and i realized that this is worth way more. It is a little cheap, but then again you are not really going to be playing gigs with it. it is a practice amp. The only thing i didnt like was that when the volume got past four, which is pretty loud, it didnt really get louder it just shook more. and the chromatic tuner is complicated and wont register my b, or high e string, but other than that it is an awesome amp.

WOW
I just got this amp.......its amazing. There are tons of choices for custom effects. The distortion is strong and powerful. All the amps sound great , clean and distortion. The effects are great, except the octave but other than that....its worth your money. Its really really loud, just playing at 2 annoys my neighbors. I compared this amp with a LINE 6 SPIDER, and this had way better>> BOTTOM LINE......great amp for budget players and a ton effects ready to be manipulated.

Awesome amp!
I got this amp a couple of months back and it still amazes me till this day! looking at it for the first time kinda of intimated me but do not be scared of all the settings and the light show. All the effects are actually really good. i love how you can change things up to how you like it. the cromatic tuner is fine it does the job! the only thing i didnt like about the amp is that the fabric/metal covering the front rattles abit when played loud but i make nothing of it. overall this amp is awesome i would reccomend it to anyone looking for a practice amp.
