Good price point guitar

from midwest

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I received my new PRS SE Custom 24 yesterday and I have to say it is a sharp looking and sounding guitar. The new pickups (85/15 S) are a huge improvement. I'm a big fan of the wide thin neck and the overall feel and playability. With that being said, I did have to take it in to my luthier for a complete setup including action, truss rod, and intonation adjustment. This isn't that uncommon for a new guitar, however, there were several frets that were either too low or too high causing a low E buzz all the way up the neck. This wasn't a huge deal but I didn't think I would need that kind of work done so soon. Overall its a great price point guitar but the "straight out of the box" setup advertised did not hold up. I would recommend this guitar if you have it set up as it plays and sounds excellent now.

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

I have a 96 CE 24 and bought the 2017 SE because of the new 85/15 pickups. This guitar is just as good as my CE. The finish is not as good as an American PRS but it is well worth the money

Comments about PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar:

Like many, I don't typically write reviews. I have tons of American, Japanese, Korean and Mexican gear. (If that helps my credibility at all). Anyway I was never a fan of PRS, I was strictly a Fender, Gibson, Gretsch and Ibanez king of guy. Anyway, my local Guitar Center has a used PRS custom 24 and I picked it up and played on it for a while and fell in love with it. The guitar basically played itself! All the controls were Right where they are supposed to be and the neck felt unlike anything I ever played. Needless to say I could not afford the $3200 price tag on it. I went home and googled it and found out that PRS was releasing a new line of their SE models. I took a chance and ordered one before they were actually released.(I had to wait on them to be shipped from PRS to GC. It arrived yesterday and picked it up at Guitar Center. All I can say is this guitar blows away everything, I even compared it to the $3200 one still hanging in the store. The fit and finish is just as good and the fret work is impeccable. These 85/15 pickups sound better than the pickups in the $3200 one. This SE is a dream to play and sounds amazing, buy one you will not be disappointed. The fit and finish is better than my American Strat, Tele, Les Paul & SG. Now on a different note. This guitar will not sound like a Strat, Tele, Les Paul or an SG. It has its own beautiful voice. It's sounds full, warm and round. Never harsh, regardless of the position of the pickup selector. Also, when you split the pick ups, it actually sounds like a single coils and not like half of a humbucker. I love the easy access to the upper frets and yes frets 23 & 24 are actually playable. The bottom line is this guitar has great manners and is one of the best guitars that I've ever played. Buy one you will not regret it!
