Description

Our buyers”experienced players themselves”went to Paul's Maryland shop where they handpicked a group of knockout guitars with the most stunning tops, unusual appointments, and the lightest bodies.

This handpicked PRS Hollowbody II Electric Guitar is carved inside and out with only a small block under the bridge connecting the back and top. The Hollowbody II is PRS's most popular semi-hollow guitar. PRS crafts the Hollowbody II with solid mahogany rims and a solid, deeply carved figured maple top and back. The PRS Hollowbody II offers brilliant acoustic qualities for a thinline hollow electric guitar. This stunning PRS guitar is finished in a striking dark cherry wraparound sunburst finish. The comfortable wide fat mahogany neck has a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard adorned with moon dot inlays.

With the patented PRS/LR Baggs Piezo System, you can plug the Hollowbody II directly into your PA or recording console and your amp at the same time. This piezo pickup system has a huge array of tones and simple switching possibilities. The Hollowbody II also features PRS Starla treble and bass pickups with proprietary alnico magnets for clean and crisp sound. They produce rich harmonic overtones when driven. PRS includes a hardshell case with the Hollowbody II electric guitar.

This guitar is amazing! I got it with the peizo system, and it sound is incredible. I really don't need an acoustic anymore since this guitar gives me the sound I need. Aesthetically, it's flawless. The only thing to note is the medium-gauge strings that take time to get used to. I just took mine into GC to have them do a set-up with light-gauge strings. PRS is also a very reputable company, and you know the guitar will last the rest of your life, so I thought it'd be a good investment!

There are a few things about this guitar which make it a little difficult to get used to at first, including the heavy-gauge strings which come stock on it, and (for some) the wide fat neck profile is hard to get a small hand around. These things along with a hearty price tag might make you reconsider whether you're willing to put up with less than perfect in this price range. That being said, the tone that this guitar is capable of is very rewarding if you can get past those hurdles, though I prefer a bit of a "hefty" guitar myself, so I don't mind it much. The heavy-gauge strings, coupled with the hollow design of the guitar and solid neck, combine to give a very solid, resonant tone out of the guitar that it hard to match. The last thing to mention is that the figure of the wood on this guitar is (like most PRS's) incredible, and the finishing job makes it a delight to look at. All in all, this guitar is capable of producing some amazing sounds, but it's not quite a guitar that will immediately feel comfortable if you've got small hands and haven't been pushing heavy strings.
