This pedal is something truly unique in the world of distortion and metal pedals. When I first plugged it into my amplifier, the results were a little disappointing. The drive's tone felt a little weak and dry, producing little gain and even less noise. The guitar I first used was an unmodified Ibanez RG-Series with stock pickups. Before I allowed my disappointment to completely overwhelm me, I decided to plug my completely customized Jackson Kelly with Seymour Duncan pickups into this unit. The difference in tone was astounding, the gains went through the roof, the levels were perfect, and the tone was astounding, this little pedal went from a flop to an extreme metal pedal. What this pedal does is dirty up the tone coming from your pickups without changing or modifying their tones, and the tone and intensity depends on your pickups. Weak, low gain pickups = weak low gain pedal. If your pickups lack any definition or character, this pedal will not do much to change that. What it will do is allow your nice quality, high output pickups, to make your neighbors eyes bleed and give your guitar the sound you are looking for.
Great for rock

I bought this pedal looking to replace my Line 6 Uber Metal, and I was really happy with the sound of the Modtone. The EQ is great and the pedal is very loud (I have my level at 9 oclock on the pedal and on my amp and it's plenty loud). The only issue I have with this pedal is that you can't get the metal tones that you should be able to get. It's GREAT for a rock sound, but you can't get those really heavy Metallica, Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, or even 3 Doors Down tones from it. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars. Again, great pedal...just not heavy enough.
Nosebleed tones for a killer price

Its about time someone dropped a pedal on the market thats as versatile as this lil guy. This pedal can do just about any king of distortion youd think of, no worrying about using it as a boost, it has all the umph anyone needs. The double stacked pots are killer, and the mid scoop enabled me to get all kinds of kool sounds. Like its name says, it does get some krazy distortion for metal, deathcore, grindcore, and all that good stuff. But i can also hit grunge tones like nirvana and soundgarden dead on. Cosmetically its in a small, sturdy aluminum case with a blood stain and a solid five year warrany, what else could you ask for?

Does any one know if I could get a Dimebag Darrell tone if I use this pedal and have other pedals in my chain to help it out?
This effects pedal would give you a tone similar to Dimebag Darrell's tone.
