Modtone MT-DS Speedbox Distortion Pedal

Description
The ModTone distortion pedal features a simple 3-knob configuration for overdrive bliss. Starting with a custom-tailored Tone knob, you can dial in just the right amount of sparkle and warmth while still retaining all the crunch and tonal clarity you love without a hint of noise. Next is the Drive knob and it's truly where the heart of this pedal lies. The custom-voiced overdrive circuit and proprietary gain stage setting allow you the option of getting a delicious overdrive tone from your clean amp or combine it with your amp's overdrive setting to achieve a thick and creamy lead boost that sustains for days. Last up is the Level control that allows you to select the perfect amount of gain whether your style is a touch of the blues or an all-out metal blitzkrieg.
The Modtone MT-DS Speedbox, like the whole family of ModTone effect pedals, features period-correct, vintage-style components, smooth linear taper pots, high-impact switches built for the floor and top quality jacks for optimum tonal transfer.

this is a pretty decent pedal for the price range. doesnt sound too good through a digital amp like my spider 4 or my vox, but through a good tube amp, say a B-52 AT-100, it sounds pretty good for a nice smooth hard rock sound. pretty good for solos too. my only problem is that it is a little quiet. with a little amp channel and volume mastering i can make it work. and if all else fails and i get a new OD pedal, i can keep it in my loop as a killswitch by turning the level or gain nobs all the way down. all in all, a handy, exceptional, and cheap pedal

I use this mostly for a lead boost for solos setting the tone lower than my main dist. (Box of Rock clone). It's okay on it's own and really shines on lower gain settings, With teh gain maxed and the tone at 8 'o'clock it could be used on it's own, it's a little bit gritty (so to speak) on it's own. For a first pedal this would a good starting point (I have 11, so not my first) Cool paint, blue Led, and fair packaging. Would be a good gift (as mine was).
Amazing, buy it right NOW

I got this for my birthday, and I dropped my jaw at how great this sounded. It is my first distortion pedal, and the only one I will ever use. I like using the distortion from this pedal instead of my Peavey Vypyr's distortion. I can get Classic British rock distortion, all they way to Metallica! Its almost impossible not to buy this with the price! ModTone are the only pedals I will use, except for my Dunlop Wah. If you are looking for AMAZING distortion, for an AMAZING price, get this AMAZING pedal.
