A very flexible tool to have
I've had this for over a month now and I think it is a great tool. I had A-B'd it against the SANSAMP BASS DI at Guitar Center, spent about an hour fiddling with both of them. In the end, I was much happier with the MXR because of the variety of sounds that I can get out of it, whether clean or with distortion. Also, it has more flexibility because of the 2 channels and the noise gate. And it it costs less to boot.
I play in cover bands and I need to be a bass chameleon, this box really helps me add more flavors of sound. With the clean channel, I can accentuate the sound of my bass when I need to, tweaking on the tone knobs as needed. With the distortion on, I can dial in a controlled distortion for Geddy Lee sound, more top end for Incubus, and muted fat cigar smoking distortion like RATM.
Nice and compact and solid.

Wow. I have had this thing for a couple of days now and have put it through the test! It is great for anything!!! Both channels just sound absou-freakin-loutley great!! You can get just about any bass player's tone you want. From Flea to Jaco to Geddy......just awesome!!!! I have used it in big auditoriums and small rooms...from amps to pa's and the tone is mind blowing!!!

This thing is the BOMB!!!
Playing live has always been a challenge. From the sound man to the stage volume. Tone is always tough to set in different rooms. But with the M80, you can blow up any room. Bypass the your amp head & go direct to the main board with it. I don't use the distortion, but the clean channel is unbelievable. I used to love SANSAMPS, but this thing kills them. Add on an Aphex Bass Exciter, and BAM, everyone will want to know what you got. The M80 is bullet proof, great tone, boost, etc. You can't go wrong with one of these. Even if you don't use pedals, this will compliment any rig.
