Delivers everything from sweet singing overdrive to massive distortion crunch!

Developed from the ground up using carefully selected components, the Distortion III pedal delivers everything from sweet singing overdrive to massive distortion crunch! It's natural and amp-like distortion is versatile enough to appeal to any playing style and transparent enough to let your guitar's personality shine through. Like all MXR pedals, the Distortion III features a heavy-duty casing, switch and jacks for a lifetime of use.

The initials MXR are synonymous with the effects pedal innovations that have shaped the tone of modern electric guitar. Since the 1970's, MXR has produced some of the best stomp boxes available; now comes the inspired MXR Distortion III. Starting with its proprietary circuit design that delivers rich harmonic content, the D-III carries on the MXR tradition of tough, rugged and tonally tasty stomp boxes. With its die cast chassis, robust stomp switch and carefully selected components the D-III guitar effects pedal is truly a modern day classic.

MXR M-115 Distortion III Pedal Features:

Best Distortion out there

This is by far the best Distortion pedal there is to date. MXR stands for quality and again did not let me down! The sound has a very broad range from clean distortion to high output overdrive. Compared to the Double Shot Distortion it does not deliver that edgy metal overtone and provides you with a crunchy rock sound. No metal, just pure rock music. The addition of the "tone"- knob gives the user so many more options and is really worth the $10 more than the Distortion+. The solid metal construction will never fail and compared to the SD-1 there is no permanent hum in the background. Best distortion out there!!!!

Pretty good

I love this pedal!! I have 1 modded TS808 reissue and a regular TS9 and this is better than both. This pedal is nothing like the Distortion+ which I thought was trebly and just plain crappy. Its louder than the Tube Screamers and has more to work with in regards to settings. But I think of this pedal maybe as more overdrive than distortion. If you are looking for more of a Metal sound then this may not be for you. I think its in between overdrive and metal distortion. I like it a lot better than the SD-1. I can get a great crunch sound and when I play lightly cleans up real nice. Its pretty versitle and I love playing with it.

Versatility

This pedal is about as useful as a distorion pedal can be. The Distortion III gives users a "clean" type of distortion. This pedal can give one's tone enough grit to play hard rock when the settings are maxed, or can give the smooth feeling of blues crunch when the tone knob is decreased. Even when the Distortion setting is turned all the way down, this pedal gives a desirable amount of gain to light up any tone. Use with a compressor set before it to give this tone a wet hard metal tone.

wasnt for me

every one else seems to like it but me. i mean it really colors up the tone of the amp, to me it does. i would recommend to try out this pedal before purchasing it. it get a thin chainsaw-like tone, and i only want a thin tone coming out of my fuzz face, because that is what it does best. i love my warm tone but, it is nice to use the fuzz, because afterall jimi and eric johnson used it and eric johnson has the warmest tone of all. but this pedals was just not for me. it makes my tone sound processed, like it is going through and dang boss gt-8 or a digitech rp250, and i want a true tone coming from my amps, not a processed tone. you may like it but i did not.
