M-Audio

Description

Designed for comprehensive studio work, the Fast Track Ultra 8R audio/MIDI interface delivers 8 x 8 I/O, high-speed USB 2.0 connectivity, MX Core DSP mixing/effects, and eight preamps with award-winning Octane technology. Record drum kits and full bands on all eight inputs simultaneously in 24-bit/96kHz fidelity. The onboard MX Core DSP mixer processes eight hardware inputs and eight software returns to the eight hardware outputs, expanding the total I/O to an impressive 16 x 8 configuration. It also delivers flexible routing and monitoring with delay and reverb. Its reliable, low-latency M-Audio drivers and compatibility with most major recording software allows you to put the Fast Track Ultra 8R at the core of your powerful project studio in a single rack-mount unit.

High-speed USB 2.0 Technology
The Fast Track Ultra 8R utilizes high-speed USB 2.0 technology to deliver the bandwidth for 24-bit/96kHz audio resolution throughout the recording and monitoring process. With a maximum data transfer speed of 480Mbps, this jump in performance allows you to enjoy outstanding sound quality on all inputs and outputs simultaneously.

Built-in Effects Processing
Tired of tracking vocals and instruments dry because plug-in effects introduce too much latency? Fast Track Ultra 8R features MX Core DSP technology to give you reverb and delay on the headphone outputs with separate sends for every channel. Now you can inspire creativity by adding effects without taxing your CPU's resources.

Make the Connection
The Fast Track Ultra 8R was designed to provide all the I/O you need for a project studio. Eight channels of analog inputs and outputs plus 2-channel digital S/PDIF provide input flexibility with room to grow. Unlike most USB interfaces, it features two dedicated analog inserts on the first two channels, allowing you to insert outboard processing before A/D conversion. Easy connection via USB 2.0 delivers both audio and MIDI communication with your computer. The unit is compatible with most major audio software and seamlessly integrates into any studio setup.

MX Core DSP technology for sophisticated channel routing
This interface makes it easy to create multiple monitor mixes when recording other musicians. The robust MX Core mixer employs an array of eight individual DSP cores to deliver near-zero latency and a matrix for sophisticated channel routing options, all accessible via an intuitive control panel that utilizes a separate mixer for each pair of outputs. The mixer expands the total I/O to an impressive 16 x 8 configuration, allowing you to connect synths and outboard gear to any of the interface's hardware inputs, then mix them with the eight audio streams coming from your computer.

Eight Professional Preamps with Octane Technology
The quality of your recordings is only as good as the initial signal. The Fast Track Ultra 8R features four preamps with multi-award-winning M-Audio Octane technology, creating a premium front end that delivers your audio clarity. You get professional, low-noise, high-gain preamplification with enough channels for a variety of miking applications. Features include +48V phantom power for condenser mics, signal/peak LED indicator lights, and a pull-out gain knob that activates a 20dB pad for recording at high volumes.

Dual Headphone Amp
Whether you usually track vocals or an ensemble, you're likely to need multiple headphone mixes. Fast Track Ultra 8R has two completely independent headphone outputs so you can take advantage of the DSP mixer's powerful routing options and create the right mix for your performers, complete with reverb and delay.

After the latest Windows 10 update, the inputs on this device no longer work. Ableton and Native Instruments applications will no longer open. This device does not have a Windows 10 driver, and has passed its support lifetime so none will come from manufacturer. I have to buy a new audio interface for this reason. Up to this point, under Win 10, it has kind of, sort of worked, but no longer. Okay, I guess if you have a Windows 7 platform.

This is a great interface. You get 8 great preamps along with the ability to use the industry standard pro tools software. If you are just getting into recording or just need to do live recordings this is perfect for you. One downside is all the mic inputs are in the back, but I just leave all my cables plugged in and labeled and stored neatly underneath my desk ready to use. This interface is very well built and is perfect for the small production studio. If you think you will ever need to upgrade, I would go with the Profire 2626 off the bat. It is a firewire interface that can be linked so potential for way more inputs. Overall, a really great interface and perfect for my uses.

This product is fantastic! No problems, very low latency, easy to install, great audio. I have a Dell inspiron i580 6 GB Ram. I owned the delta 66 omni studio for about a decade and I was a little worried about the USB 2.0 interfaces, mostly for the overdubbing latency. in 10 minutes I installed the interface, and recorded 4 tracks using one mic imput, one track after the other. No problems! I recomend it to every one. Also, the guys at guitar Center were very usefull and knoledgeable.

This unit does just what we needed for our band. We use it in conjunction with Sonar for recording and a 20 channel mixer for monitoring. Latency is virtually zero and the preamps are really nice. For recording a band, you can't get much better without spending alot more $$$. The ASIO drivers (downloaded from the m-audio site) are very solid. I have had no drop-outs or clicks/glitches during recording and the control panel is very straight forward (I like the audio flow diagram that is imbedded in the control panel as well). I would highly recommend this unit to any band looking to record without the recurring expense of going to the studio. It takes some time and there is a learning curve, but in the long run you'll save thousands and have an EP or album near studio quality. Thanks m-audio!!

This piece of equipment is awesome! If you have a band/ or want to get into recording bands this is priceless, 8 mic inputs all with amazing Pre-amps as well as midi inputs as well as DSP technology that processes the effects internally so it doesn't slow down your computer as well as eliminating latency. The Physical quality is very nice it looks as good as it preforms...fantastic! If your looking for something that can do it all, this is it.

I really enjoyed working with this interface when I first began using it. I love doing live recordings of practices because it makes it easier to write and this thing is perfect for recording a full band at a time. The only thing is that I use a Mac and for no reason at all the interface decided to stop working. Calling Manufacturer for help was a nuisance because they constantly put you on hold for very long periods of time. I did some online research and found out that tons of other people who use Macs had the same problem, but not all of them so apparently this interface just dislikes some of the Mac community. Everyone else seems to love it. After sending it in to M-Audio it's finally back and so far there isn't any problems. I definitely have more love than hate for this product.
