I've played semiprofessionally for 17 years and have owned from the cheapests amps and effects to bassman and deluxe reverb amps. I use my pocket pod with a crate power block and sounds amazing. I took the preset called BAD and turned the mids and treble all the way up as well as the drive (half way) and sounds like a real tube amp (with dynamics included).Tweak the knobs and find your own voice. I also own the POD 2.0 Both are great!
I have been paying mostly acoustic guitar for the last 20 years and never really felt the electric was my thing even though I have a Tele Standard for 12 years. A friend of mine has a regular POD and I played through it and loved it so much I bought a Pocket POD the same day. The unit eats batteries every 6 hours, so I bougth the AC adapter. I've been using it connected to my Mesa Boogie or Crate or headphones three to fours hours a day and I love it. It's great when you play a song with the right amp sound and effects!
This product is good for practicing. It has some great sounds in a small package. I was let down with the computer editing. The software has a lot of bugs and line 6 seems slow to relase patches to fix the problem. If computer based tone editing is not important to you then it is a great product.
