I'd never bought anything from Line 6 so I picked up the POD X3 Pro on whim without consulting my main man at GC because it was his day off. Needless to say, I special ordered it brand new from GC.com and when I got it home and plugged it in I was extremely disappointed to say the least. First of all, it was totally defective. The power cord was plugged into a Furman power conditioner and I was using some decent headphones (Sony 7506). So yeah, there was a slight hum in the left channel and a noticeably worse hum in the right channel. So then I plugged in my Ibanez RGA8 and checked out all the patches and was really unimpressed to say the least, at least from what I could hear over the hum. Also, every time I selected a new patch there was loud electrical popping sound which really began to get me shook up. I switched to a different outlet with no difference and then boxed this thing back up. I'd heard a lot of bad things about Line 6 but I decided to take a chance because I also heard some good things but in the end I will never buy anything from Line 6 again. Its that simple. I took it back this morning and will next be looking at getting a Fractal Audio Axe-FX.
Amazing Unit

I've had this POD for two years now. I still find myself tweaking things here or there, but I more than anything still find myself making new sounds. That aside, some of the models are utterly worthless. No offense to Line 6 on this one, but there are some models that just can't be tweaked to be anywhere near where they should. However, there's some tones in here that are just absolutely amazing. I've got a couple of really great clean tones and several awesome high gain tones. The mid gain ones I still struggle with and tweak often to this day. My best gain tones have come from the Treadplate, Solo-100, and Criminal models. I've got a clean that is a mix of Blackface and Citrus that is very sweet. I've settled in the mid-gain and crunch tones having taken settings from my high gain ones and simply set them up to be lower gain. I'm not a fan of the models that are designed for mid gain sounds. They're all either way too gainy or muddy. The effects are amazing. I tend to use a few delays and many of the reverbs in particular. The auto volume swell is fantastic. The synths seem to come up short though. All in all, great unit though the other X3 models are probably better values unless you need a rackmount unit.
Couldn't be happier

I bought this unit after extensive researching for the most bang for the buck with top notch quality in a modeler. I simply could not be happier, definitely the best money I've spent on gear ever. There isn't any tone I can't achieve with the Pod X3 Pro. Being a Sound Engineer by profession I love the flexibility of tweaking tones and the ease of making them up from scratch quickly using the gear box software given free by Line 6. If you don't have 2K laying around to grab a Axe Fx Ultra modeler, the Pod X3 Pro is the next best thing hands down. Regards

Well I have to say this is one heck of a piece of equipment! I've been playing a lot of different styles for many years and I'm quite impressed with the X3 pro. I've been using an XT for the last 3 years and wanted to upgrade to something with more output control and bass amp modeling as well (the mic preamp modeling is a huge bonus). I've been using the XT and now the X3 pro for home studio work and some live work as well. Currently when in the studio, this unit has just about everything a guitarist could want except more fingers. The cost is quite high on the pro model but if you were to purchase say 10 of the 98 modeled stomp boxes this unit would pay for itself. Live I use it on 2 Spider Valve HD100 heads played through 2 Marshall 4x12s loaded with greenbacks, and it SCREAMS. When amping you loose a bit of the modeling clarity but to have 2 amps in stereo with this kind of FLEXABILITY is what most gigging musicians are looking for. The regular X3 will get the job done with headroom to spare, but the X3 pro gives you so much more routing capability that it was well worth it for me! ps: and it looks wickid! in the rack as well later Z

I am a 50 year old Guitar slinger from the old school of tube amps. I've had them all from fenders,Marshalls to Mesa-boogie's.. I played clubs pretty much through out the 80s and 90s and then gave it up for about 8years and sold all my gear. Like I said I had it all rack effects, pedals everything.. The Line6 Pod X3 Pro has everthing I had before and then some in One 3 rack space unit. But the kicker is it sounds just like the originals. I am truly amazed at how much digital modeling sounds so true to life..My hat is off to Line Six....Excellent

I have a Crate 15R guitar amp, and I wanted to achieve a professional sound, to improve it. The result was fantastic, I got a huge variability of new effects that I thought impossible with my small amp, as hardrock and 80`s style. Despite I did not try all over effects, the Line 6 POD X3 Pro Guitar Multi Effects Processor gave me the tone I dreamed!!!
