  • Great with my POD HD 500

As reviewed by Jimmy Dominy on 2/20/2013

Bought this little monitor as a portable personal monitor for use when my POD HD 500 is going direct to front of house and I'm not using in-ear monitors. This little guy is plenty loud in small to medium settings and gives an excellent representation of how my rig is sounding in the mains.....less some of the bottom (it is, after-all, only a 4-1/2" speaker). Love the size and sound!

  • Plenty of Guts

As reviewed by Ann Vest on 4/23/2014

Playing sax on a rock band makes it hard to hear yourself. This little dynamo has all the guts it takes to cut through. Played a couple of gigs without it and was lost. This monitor can cut through the fog with no problem with plenty left! Small enough to ride in a gym bag, but with enough power you would think you need a gear dolly!

  • Gorilla in a shoe box!

As reviewed by Ryan Smith on 5/2/2013

Function and form, this is the end all set to be beaten! The KPM4 was a test to see how KUSTOM monitors and PA's performed; It was sitting in a room full of 15" subs and overpriced gear. (I've never thought of KUSTOM as a viable, reliable company, and the KPM4 changed my mind!) (Check out the PW50 as well, it's just as good, but a little more in the package. This is more of an extension, but I use it as I wish..) I demoed this unit, listening to some classic rock on it and was amazed at the output. Zero line noise when it should have been there from an unbalanced source. It event had zero distortion in the output beyond halfway to ? max volume. The response was stout and yet, it's so small and PORTABLE... I'm now building my acoustic & mobile recording rig from all KUSTOM active cabinets. While I praise the KPM4, I just found out about the PW50, with dual 4.5" and a high 3.5 piezo driver. It has 3 inputs, crossover, and lower response by a marginal amount. I am getting two of those as well. (Before you toss your head up, Kurt Cobain even played off of his Crest PA amp to keep it simple!) On a side note, I will be using the KPM4 (plus two PW50 daisy chained for gigging & recording rough in) as a acoustic practice amp and doing so with an acoustic preamp. For giggles, I'll also attempt to run my Fender directly without an amp. I will be using a SANSAMP PARA DRIVER to balance the line and throw some dirt onto the channel. Then I'll will use the SANSAMP Classic and pass it through my PARA DRIVER to replicate cabinets. Then I'll review again as an update! (I was in need of a studio monitor set, but I'm not the kind of guy to break for that kind of cash. They cost way too much and at the end of the day, you're stuck with a paper coned woofer that began dieing the day you purchased it. Don't even think about gigging with your 600 dollar studio monitors... they were never made for that kind of abuse. Not to mention the laughter...) Sorry for a long review, but discovering something 3 times as useful to myself is something worth mentioning. Take care and good luck!
