A clean, cool look, great crunch, and warm sustain.

The Jackson SLSMG Soloist electric guitar has a mahogany carved-top body, mahogany thru-body neck creating outstanding sustain, compound radius ebony fingerboard, hot EMG-81 (bridge) and 85 (neck) humbucking pickups, and string-through-body bridge.
MOTO piranha tooth position inlays, ivoroid binding on the neck and headstock, and black hardware seal the deal.

Jackson's compound-radius fingerboard curves more dramatically at the nut for easy chording and flattens out as it approaches the neck joint for low-action bends without fretting out. With a more relaxed hand, you'll play better!

  • So Easy To Play

As reviewed by kduff on 8/6/2009

A few months ago, I began my search for my next electric guitar. After going through tons of Ibanezes and Fenders, I began to check out Jackson. I found this guitar sitting on the wall USED and began to play. I MEAN PLAY. Songs that were easy to play on my strat were second nature on the Jackson. This guitar is so thin that you would think that it was custom made just for you. The ebony fretboard not only looks cool with the body, but creates an easier time moving your figers all across the board. The pickups in the soloist I tried were EMG HZ(4) so I can't speak for the 81-85 which i wish were just left in there. This definetly makes you realize that you're playing an upper class guitar and I would recommend it to anyone with the budget. The case is extremely protective as well. PS If you get it used, try to haggle for 375$... Don't think I'm crazy, just do it!!!

  • So far the best!!!

As reviewed by Solo_boy_10 on 11/28/2009

I'd own this guitar for a year know, and all i can say is that is the best. I'd played on some guitars that my friends own like; Epiphones Fenders Schecters Deans and Ibanez, And they all played on mine. I love getting this comment from them " dude i love your guitar wanna traid?" they also say that u have a lot of speed cause of the freatboard and the pickups are insane. The only thing that i wish this guitar had is a tremelo bar but thats no problem you can always get one install in there perhaps a Floyd Rose setup its just my opinion cause a good guitar deserves a good whammy bar setup. Other than that my best guitar so far and thats why i rate it so high " A 5"

  • Jackson soloist SLSMG

As reviewed by Ryan on 8/4/2010

I owned one of these a while ago and I regret letting it go. It just so happens that I bought another one recently. This guitar (for me) really lends itself to fast, precise playing. I have never had a bad jackson guitar to be honest. I love the feel and bite of the ebony fingerboard. It's aesthetically appealing for certain individuals - minimal eye crap to detract from the important stuff. For such a thin body, I am surprised at the sound that it is able to produce. The tuners work very well, solid (as they should be). The tilted neck is also great as it helps keep the action consistent throughout the fretboard (which is compound radius design - brilliant). Very fun to play. The only downside I see is that changing the pickups would void the factory warranty. I've played active EMGs for a long time now and have been experimenting with different types. Oh well, can't have it all. Although the bridge is fixed (one of the few guitars I own that has a fixed), it helps with sustain (and it does sustain big time). Awesome upper fret access. But if you want to dive-bomb and squeal, spend the extra money to upgrade. I see myself keeping this thing until it disintegrates in my hands.
