Ibanez RG6003FM

Description
Ibanez's RG6003FM solid-body electric guitar is designed to unleash your inner shredder. At the heart of this metal monster is a meranti body with a stunning flamed maple top and a Wizard III neck for maximum speed, comfort and precision. Its dual Ibanez Quantum H-H pickups are wired to a 5-way switch, providing a variety of tones from bright and cutting to warm and punchy. Combined with its jumbo frets, F106 bridge and black hardware, the RG6003FM is a high-performance axe ready to endure the most intense metal assaults.
Dual Ibanez Quantum Pickups Provide Endless Tonal Possibilities
The RG6003FM comes loaded with a pair of passive Quantum humbucker pickups in the neck and bridge positions. These ceramic pickups are wired to a 5-way switch, offering players an array of tones from a tight, focused sound to a wide, expressive roar. The neck pickup provides a warm, round tone that is perfect for complex chords and melodic passages. The bridge pickup delivers an aggressive, biting tone suited for heavy rhythm and lead playing. By combining the pickups in the 2 and 4 switch positions, you can achieve a balanced tone with clarity and punch. The tonal variety and output of these Quantum pickups make the RG6003FM suitable for any style of metal.
Wizard III Neck Offers Unparalleled Speed and Playability
The RG6003FM features a one-piece Wizard III maple neck, renowned for its thin, flat profile and smooth, fast-playing feel. Its treated jatoba fingerboard has 24 jumbo frets, allowing for wide bends and legato techniques. The contoured heel provides easy access to higher frets, enabling players to explore the full range of the neck. Combined with its precision-cut nut, the Wizard III neck offers an unhindered, friction-free playing experience for shredding at breakneck speeds.
Fixed Bridge Anchors Tone and Sustain
Instead of a traditional tremolo bridge, the RG6003FM has a fixed F106 bridge. This provides superior tuning stability and increased sustain compared to a tremolo bridge. This fixed bridge tightly anchors the strings to the guitar body, enabling a strong, resonant tone with rich harmonic content. For metal players seeking maximum tone and tuning stability during aggressive techniques, the F106 is up to the task.

All around great guitar!
I'm surprised that nobody else has reviewed this little gem. I tried this out in-store before buying, and the pickups are highly responsive and punchy. The 5-way switch is what makes this guitar so versatile and fun to use. The neck is thin and feels super smooth. The dotted inlays are pushed to the edge of the frets which gives it a slick, professional look. The natural wood color is what caught my eye, it really stands out in the crowd. All in all, a well rounded guitar for the price. Everyone should at least have 1 in their collection.

Great project guitar
I've read some reviews on this guitar and they are not misleading. The electronics in this guitar coming straight out of the box real lacked luster. Don't give up though this guitar has great potential if you can drop a little extra money into it and mod it out. The wizard neck that comes on this and RG models is, well, amazing. The tuners are good and the body on this guitar is very sound as well. I bought this guitar about 6 months ago with the whole intention to customize it and I am really impressed. I put EMG 85/81 pickups in mine and changed the pots to dual concentric/stacked pots (to control tone/volume on both pickups) and turned it into what would closely resemble a higher end RG for about $200 less than actually shelling out for the out of box higher end. This guitar is well worth the price. It's a great beginner model and with a few customizations can suit your needs. Bottom line, get this for someone who's starting or has had some experience. If they hold onto it long enough to put some tweaks into it they will forever fall in love with this guitar.

My son wanted an electric to learn on. They didn't have the one they wanted in stock so we went with this one. He told me he loves to feel of the neck and how easy it is to hold. Hopefully this puts him on the road to a lifetime of playing.

I love how much fun this guitar is. It's very comfortable and easy to play. I enjoy the aesthetic of it too; especially how the back of it has a pop of color. The sound is amazing. I will continue to buy Ibanez. It's a solid choice.
Love it

I'm back to playing guitar after 22 years (early intermediate level), and I really wanted the experience to be a great one. I returned my first guitar and got the RG6003FM instead, and I'm so glad I did. It's lightweight, so I'm always playing while standing. It sounds awesome through my amp, and the Wizard neck is super comfortable for me. I'm really enjoying learning and practicing again thanks to this guitar.

Are the pickups active or passive? The specs dont list it. I have an Ibanez bass thaty sounds great, stays in tune. I dont like having to put a 9v in it and wonder if it will cut out on me.
