I was looking at a few different hollow-bodies (Epiphone, Gretsch & Ibanez). The Epiphones were nice, but too heavy for me because I jump around onstage a lot. The Gretsches were nice as well, but I own an Electromatic that has problems staying in tune, and the nut had to be replaced after a year and a half of playing it, so I was wary of picking up another Gretsch. I chose the Ibanez AF75, and for almost two years now, it's been a perfect fit. It has a very full, classic hollow-body sound (and look), and is easy to play. It stays in tune for the whole gig, and, unlike a lot of other hollow-bodies I've played, it never feels fragile or breakable. My only (very small) criticism is that there's no master volume control - just one for each pickup. FYI, I'm a rhythm guitarist, so if you play lead, you should read other reviews as well.

AF75 - Versatile, feature-packed

By Jimmy Bear Pearson

from Raleigh, NC

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Overall impression: The AF75 is lightweight, a pleasure to play, and sounds great. It has features found in guitars that cost a lot more. Artcores are nice in general, and the AF75 is a bargain to boot. Playability: The AF75 is lightweight and well-balanced. The neck is quick and the feel is just right. The archtop sits nicely under your playing arm. I like flatwounds on my AF75 for slick playing feel. Sound: The AF75 ACH pickups are no slouch! They work well for lots of different styles. The guitar sounds often a little on the jazzy or folk side, but distortion and tube scream can make it sound like a demon. Value: The guitar is well-bound, well-made, and has great electronics. The features of this instrument far outreach guitars costing much more. I?m reminded of Casinos when playing the AF75 ? but with an excellent humbucking sound. The bridge is a floater - this is good for sound, but you?ll need to remember where it is when removing the packing foam and when replacing the strings.

Buy It Now

By RandyRhoadsRocks

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

My father purchased this guitar for me when I was 13 and I have been playing ever since. I used to be an only Les Paul Player, but after playing this, I'm all Artcore! Ibanez can certainly up the price on this beauty for it is worth way more.

A Rock & Blues Artists Dream Come True!

By Hound Dog

from Michigan

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

If you play rock and blues, you must own this axe! Absolutely the finest electric hollow body made, for the dollar spent! Very fine craftsmanship goes into this sweetheart and the set up straight out of the box is superb! I absolutely love it! I own higher end Gibsons/Fenders and this baby plays right in the same ball park, but for lots less cash! The Ibanez Artcore AF75 is the answer to prayer for the Musician on a budget!

We don't need no amps, but they help

By simpleton

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

The biggest thing that surprised be about this guitar is how well it sounds not plugged into an amp at all. Great tone and sustain. When I do have it plugged in it's running through a Valve Junior combo, and a Boss DS-1, and I'm able to get exactly the tone I want. Can go from butter smooth with a little break up, to dragged through the mud dirt. Then when I want to just rattle off something in my head I can just pick up and go.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I bought this guiar recently and am amazed. Its sounds amazing not even plugged in. If it is the sound you are going for it is a great value. The clean crisp sound of blows me away when hooked up to a clean amp.

No, seriously... it's great

By Tommy Crashwreck

from Sterling, MA

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I hate to write the kind of review that just goes, "OH, WOW! I AM THE BEST GUITAR PURCHASER EVER!" At the same time, however, I want people to understand that this guitar really is great. It's one of the nicest sounding hollow-bodies I have played, and it looks great in my opinion (mine is red). The soundbox is excellent and gives a real spacey feel to the sound, so each strum has some room to breathe... it works pretty well for what little jazz comping I can handle, and when my friend, who actually plays jazz guitar, got it in his hands, it sounded great. Maybe even recordable! Basically, if you want a nice Gretsch-esque guitar for like $400 and don't mind if your pickguard sometimes makes this weird (but really cool when distorted) growl, I'd like to suggest this guitar.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I sat down with the Ibanez AF75 at Guitar Center for over 3hrs. I had traded in a guitar and wanted a jazz/blues machine. I had come in with the Ibanez in mind, but also I had my eye on the Epiphone Wildkat, and the Epiphone Dot. I liked the tone of each, but I kept coming back to the Ibanez. Overall, the build on the Wildkat was poor; it couldn't stay in tune even without using the tremolo. I have owned several Dots over the years and had the same problem with each, the necks broke when adjusted, not by myself, but by 3 different luthiers. The Ibanez just has this warmth to it. Unplugged it sounds like every other semi hollow, maybe a bit tinnier, but plugged in, it just sings. This is perfect for blues/jazz/rock/ or in my case, being in the worship band at church. Do yourself a favor, go to Guitar Center, tune one up, and sit with it for 15min on your favorite amp, just a little overdrive and some reverb, and you will see exactly what I mean. Fantastic instrument. Unbelievable price for this quality. Mine stays in tune like a champ. Minor adjustments every few days. Can't believe it.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I play a wide range of styles. Jazz, blues, rock, pop, folk, country, whatever the gig calls for. Among my fenders, gibsons, epiphones, guilds, taylors, had some great guitars, but none had that full rich jazz tone I was looking for for a specific type of music, jazz. I bought the Ibanez artcore af-75 and put some flatwound strings on it. Man did that do the trick'!. Has a full, robust sound, that works so beautifully playing jazz and complements my other guitars wonderfully. I just love the feel, and sound of the instrument, and on top of that, it's just plain beautiful to look at. 5 stars easy!!

Returned my recently purchased Luna acoustic/ electric and searched the store for store credit. There she was the AF75 on the wall right behind the clerk. This guitar fits perfect in my hands, the knobs are out of the way. I removed the pick guard as my fingers tend to tap and now it is freedom. So easy to play, the response and action are out of this world. Throwing down the extra 2 bills was worth the day when Luna refused to play.. My first hollow body ever and it helps keep my panic attacks in check. Great big sound that captures your dexterity and brightens the emotions that you put into your playing in awesome clarity that you can't hear with other guitars. NICE ! !

      i love this guitar

      By htizzle my fizzle

      from Dallas,Texas

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

the af75 was my dream come true wen i got it as my 4th guitar, it is my primary show guitar. i have experienced the versatility of the instrument because i switch between rythm and lead and i can tell you that this guitar is absolutely great for both. it is not too heavy so it allows forany kind of movement in performance.it absolutely plays nearly as good as any gibson ive heard and for for such a great low price.the tuning duration is also very good because i will play all the way through a set and it is still in tune and even when i put it in the case and take it out the next day it still is.Not to mention how absolutely beautiful they are (i have the red and black) and are always an eye catcher on the stage (unless ur singer is absolutely gorgeous lol.i have changed my inlay through shop customization and it makes this guitar look even cooler than it already does.and my only criticism is the master control has no whole settings but one for each string.but other than this its perfect. i would give it a 6 out of 5 if i could : )

I have been waiting to buy this guitar for months. It came on sale so I finally pulled the trigger. Pulled it out of the box and couldnt believe how gorgeous it is in person. I havent been able to plug it in yet because we have a new baby in the house, but acoustically it sounds great. I actually had to make myself put it down to come write the review. If you have been considering this guitar, do it. Its an amazing value for the fit, finish, and sound. Super easy to play also.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Mine is the AF75D. Maybe the "D" stands for "deep" because it is about 4" thick. This guitar reminds me of a Gibson Byrdland. I have been playing for over 40 years (Pro and Semi-pro). This fine guitar has inspired me to learn new things about the guitar. Right out of the box, mine was perfect! I haven't touched a thing and I can't put it down. Have no doubts...this is a much better guitar than the price indicates! I have no complaints about the tone. The pick-ups seem perfect to me.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This guitar is one of the best purchases I have made in my career. I was looking to step up from my Strat, into the big sound of a hollow-body for my Jazz work, and this definitely filled those shoes. It's got great tone and wonderful pick-ups. My only slight was the strings that came with it were much to thin to be called anywhere near Jazz gauge, and because of this when I actually put 13's on it, I had to adjust the bridge. But this was pretty much expected due to my experience with most guitars. Overall, this guitar can't be beat, not only in its price range, but in its functionality as well.

Comments about Ibanez Artcore AF75 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This guitar is gorgeous!! There is no other way to put it. I've had it for about 4 years now and I feel like I can finally post a reliable review, as I've put it to the test. The guitar's finish is still perfect and fingerprints don't stand out and are not at all difficult to remove. The sound is impeccable. It can handle any sort of effect you use and sounds unbelievable with a wah. In my opinion, the clean, unaltered sounds that come out of this guitar are what sets it apart. I used this guitar at a gig for some of my groups setlist. mostly originals, but we also did covers of "Under the Bridge" and "Santeria" and I got very positive reactions. Bottom line is, beautiful guitar with equally beautiful sound. Similar sounding Hollow-Bodys are more expensive. Great Buy.
