I use a 7 rating in my Mesa Dual Rectifier and they sound phenomenal. I've had the same pair in for about 2 years through a LOT of touring, and i'm just NOW starting to see a difference in tone and quality. I play more of a pop/rock style and these tubes help really fill out the mix on stage. They are so versatile! i can have a great low gain tone for a more indie sound, but also a great heavy sound for the hard breakdowns. I definitely recommend these. These tubes along with the GT Russian Preamps, great combo!
I'm an old 80s heavy metal guy.I've used sovtek tubes for years the night before a gig I blew a tube so I went to guitar center for some replacement all they had were groove tubes(wasn't sure about them heard some so so things about them)so I bought them. I got say that I'm very impressed the tube are so warm sounding in my jcm900 Marshall it blew my doors away don't know why people talk bad on these tubes I would highly recommend them!
I purchased the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III knowing it had a clean channel and dirty channel. I use pedals into the amp through the clean channel, but at volumes higher than 3 or 4 on the amp, it would start to break up. I called Fender who confirmed the stock tubes are rated between 4 and 7 which break up that early. So they recommended these tubes rated between 8 and 10. I got the 10. After installing and learning how to re-bias the amp on YouTube, the amp plays very clean when cranked up to 8. Works as expected.
