Excellent Guitar from Guitar Center

Purchased this guitar from GC in Fredericksburg, VA. This is an excellent guitar. Nice rounded neck, unique finish, a fast neck, and powerful Buckerbucker pickups. Guitar players need not worry about the '59 neck. It's very easy to handle it's shape. I have tiny hands and short fingers but never had any trouble playing this guitar. I'm a regular vintage Telecaster player by the way so I guess that's an advantage for me as my hands got used to fat necks. Weight is not heavy as others may have stated. I am a short 5ft 1in guy with no muscles but I can shoulder this guitar for hours with no strain on the body. Only complaint are the tuners. They seem to go out of tune pretty fast. But once it's tuned, it's all set for go. My guitar came in setup and inspected properly by the GC Store Manager. Buy this guitar. Best valued Gibson out there without making your wife angry because of what you spent!

A great Gibson Guitar for the low price

Sirs, I already wrote a review this month. However, I am 60 years old and my eye sight is poor, and I did not notice all the spelling errors in this very small print. So, here is my corrected review below this paragraph. Please post it and remove the old one. Thank you, Tom Gorbas ................................................. Review by Gorbonso, Orlando Florida I am only a hobbyist guitar player. I have always loved and owned the Fender Guitars for their looks, the neck's feel with rounded comfortable fret edges, rounded curves on body (no sharp "box-like" edges under right arm), light body, and their sound (Punchy Adler Wood). However, I wanted to try a Gibson, and I purchased the "all mahogany" guitar with case. While shopping, I notice this model came in satin red or satin brown. Red is always a transparent paint color, and it will not hide anything. So, the red satin mahogany guitar shows the three glued together wood seams of the guitar body, and also the two glued seams of the tuner head wood. In my opinion, using the red satin made this guitar look very cheap, per revealing too much. Yes, all Gibsons and Fenders have wood pieces glued together (not one solid piece of wood). However, with the satin brown paint job, it does hide the wood seams completely, and you can still see the beautiful wood grain. The satin brown really looks great, as if it was one solid piece of wood. Another big plus for me is that the satin finish does not show fingerprints, and/or fine scratches like the high gloss paint jobs. Also, the latest reviews on guitar paint jobs reveals that the thinner the paint job, the better quality sound you will get. Since I never owned a Gibson before, I have not yet realized the value of the "new" Burstbucker pickups. However, I do see that they are also on the top of the line higher priced Gibson Guitars. Over all, I am very pleased with this guitar. It is a great quality Gibson, without paying for an expensive paint job. By the way, I also see where a lot of people complain about the weight of a Gibson guitar. Yes, they are extremely painfully heavy. However, this all mahogany model is not heavy at all. I picked up my Fender Strat in one hand, and the mahogany Gibson in the other, and I could not notice any difference in weight. But try that experiment with one of the other Gibson models, and you will feel a big difference in weight. I would recommend this model Gibson guitar to anyone, and it will not hurt their wallet. However, I do have some suggestions (not complaints) for the Gibson company. First, they need to round off the fret edges, per hand fingering comfort. Second, since this guitar is sold mahogany body with a carved solid mahogany arched top, it would not hurt the looks or sound of the guitar to extremely round off the sharp box-like edges under your right arm area (like a Fender) for right arm comfort. Third, offer a double cutaway in this model, and fourth, offer this model with an optional Bigsby factory installed. Yes I know, Bigsby's do go out of tune fast. But, many people love the antiquated "Old Rock & Roll" Bigsby look on a guitar, and love the tremolo sound. Plus, Gibson offers the Bigsby feature on their most expensive guitars. So, how bad can it be? In conclusion, this is a great Gibson guitar for a low price. I love the sound, and I love the all mahogany brown satin finish. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone.

Don't be fooled by the studio title...

I've been playing this guitar for 4 months at guitar center, since I needed a new one, and I narrowed it down to this. I love this guitar, from the screaming pick-ups, to the wood grain finish. This guitar has a unique finish, that many people don't like, but I like it, my other guitar's are painted, or lacquered, and this beats both, your hand doesn't stick to the neck, and it looks really nice. Not only does your hand not stick, but the neck has a nice shape, I mean I do have big hands, so if you have smaller hands, it may be a little fat, but it is very comfortable. If i had to describe this guitar in a sentence, I'd say that it is about as nice as a Les Paul Standard, without all the bells and whistles, it's stripped to the necessities and it is wonderful.

Great Les Paul!!

I just bought a Vintage Mahogany Les Paul and I love it! Personally, I really like the unpainted unbound finish, but then I have a small collection of natural finish mahogany guitars.I like the look of wood more than paint. I always pick an electric guitar unplugged. You can change everything about the guitar except the sound of the wood and this one sounds great acoustically. Tone is round and full and it has great sustain all the way up to the last fret. That was most impressive quality, most guitars start to die out above the 12th fret or so but not this one. The chambered body actually adds a lot of musical resonance to the tone. The Burstbuckers are also great. I had a set of Andsersons I was going to drop in, but these sound so good, I changed my mind. A great guitar and a great value!!!
