Best Gibson Ever

Got this guitar a couple weeks ago. Been playing for over 45 years so I'm no stranger to guitars. I've owned some very nice ones: 60 Gibson 330, 65 Ric 330, 68 Gibson 345, 69 Gibson LP Custom, ltd ed custom shop SG, ltd ed Strat, etc. I own 16 guitars (Gibson, Gretsch, Fender, Epi, Ric, Line 6, Takamine, Schecter, etc), so you know I'm not a beginner infatuated with his first guitar. In the past few years I haven't been impressed with that famous "Gibson Quality" (in workmanship and finish. Materials, however, are tops). Certainly PRS, Schecter, and Epi are better workmanship. But I have to say that this Firebird is flawless in every respect. I still had to adjust trussrod, action, and intonation. Some reviewers say they buy guitars that are perfect right out of the box. I've owned 25 guitars, NONE have not required some adj, ALL have at least required intonation. Maybe I'm just picky. Way better than a LP-meatier tone, better access to higher frets, definitely more unique looks. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE LPs, own 3, getting a couple more. But the Firebird is simply better in every way. The mini humbuckers are the best thing going: full rich sound like the Burstbucker Pro but crisper/more distinct; amazing warm overdriven blues sound but very articulate; sharpens up to ring like a bell (check out Johnny Winter). You'll get the best tone using #10 nickel coated strings-Gibson Brite Wires are great. I have small hands so I prefer the slim taper neck. This is similar but SLIGHTLY heaftier (not nearly as thick as the 50s "C" shape tho). I find it absolutely perfect. This is one amazing axe. Everything good that has been said by other reviewers is true. Some said that it's pricy. Hey, it's way better than a LP and $700 cheaper!! It's a no brainer. You simply cannot buy a better sounding/playing/looking guitar. One criticism...I'm not impressed with the quality of these banjo tuners. They aren't very smooth, they're difficult to tune precicely, and they don't stay in tune as well as some others. But they ARE WAY cool looking. I wouldn't let it stop me from replacing this guitar if I ever had to (Heaven forbid).

It's A Gibson

It's a Gibson, what else can I say. Fine, grade A, American made quality, nice Gibson tone, the works. There are two things that really suprised me about this guitar. One was the pickups, though they're mini humbuckers, they're very solid, sustaining humbuckers. Clean cleans to distorted monsters easily with the right amp. Second was the neck. I was expecting a sort of thick neck, but it was slim, fast and very comfortable. Neck thru design was a very nice treat. One of the only neck thru guitars that I know of that Gibson makes besides the other two Firebirds. My only complaint: the price. Guess it's because the neck thru body thing. But still one of the best Gibsons I've ever played. Recommended through a Marshall amp.

My Favorite

This is now my favorite guitar of any brand. It is so much different from other Gibsons, including pickups, tone, feel, and especially shape. The mini humbuckers have a great natural gain to them, with a slight hint of distortion with its volume on 3 or 4. The reverse headstock is cool looking, and the body style will grow on you if you don't like it right off. Lightweight, super fast neck, best materials used to make it too. One thing that I wasn't expectin is that it's longer than other guitars, not even fitting in my Gibson gig bag that I own. Of course, it had a few, small problems on it from assembly. My bridge pickup's tone nob was put on wrong, which normally wouldn't be a problem, except they were all put on so tight that I can't get it off! The rythm pickup's tone nob has a scratch on one side, just an accident I'm sure. The cable input ring keeps coming loose and sometimes so does the ring around the pickup switch. I've heard, and noticed, that Gibson has been gettin sloppy with the craftmanship of their instruments lately. I agree, but the little problems on mine do not affect the playing any though. Just some of the things that came on mine. But it is now my favorite guitar over all. But try before you buy, everyone has different taste, I know I sure do.

Perfect guitar!

Just bought this guitar about two weeks ago and its just great I love the pickups becuase you can get sort of a single coil sound with one pickup and the sound of a humbucker with both. The only complaint I have is that its a little too big... but overall it feels great to play for any style of music I recommend this guitar for someone who wants a single coil sound / humbucker sound.

IT'S A FIREBIRD!!!

First of all let me just say these are hard to find. Next im a very experienced guitarist and have had many guitars and i must say this is by far the best thing that i've ever touched. It plays so smooth has a mind blowing sound both with and without an amp, and is about as rare as a dinosaur. I highly recommend it
