Description

The Gibson Custom Shop 1960 Les Paul VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Plain Top Electric Guitar is a beautiful Les Paul that you'll want in your collection. In 1960, the Les Paul Standard still had the carved maple top with burst finish and Burstbucker pickups of its predecessors with an added slim-tapered neck for a decidedly different feel. This 1960 Reissue Les Paul captures the essence of the original guitar accurately and in great detail.

The one-piece mahogany neck is topped with a gorgeous rosewood fretboard that's adorned with acrylic trapezoid inlays with shape and color true to the original. BurstBucker 1 and 2 pickups deliver famous vintage LP tone. Gibson includes a hardshell case with your reissue Les Paul.

As if that weren't enough, this Limited Edition features the highly sought after, historically correct lemonburst finish or dark burst finish. With the plain top, you really get the full effect of these rich, gorgeous colors. This guitar's hardware is not only period correct, but has been given Gibson's popular aged treatment. Get all the benefits of a new guitar with a killer lived-in look that will inspire thoughts of past guitar greats as you pour out your soul.

Gibson's Custom Shop produces some of the finest electric guitars on earth. Using the best materials money can buy, a staff of skilled luthiers reproduce some of the greatest Gibson Les Pauls of the past and create stunning new instruments for players and collectors who demand the best.

Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Series instruments, the 1960 Les Paul VOS Plain Top Aged Hardware is handcrafted for comfort and playability in the Gibson Custom Shop. The construction, neck profile, hardware, and electronics are period accurate, and a special nitrocellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently aged vintage guitar. Includes Gibson Custom Shop case and a certificate of authenticity.

This guitar converted me to Gibson guitars. I used to be a PRS man, but I picked up this guitar and I could not put it down. I LOVE this guitar...I played another Gibson reissue and it did not have the feel of this guitar. The neck is a perfect fit - "old pair of jeans" is a great description. The sound has character that makes other guitars pale when compared to this Gibson. I can see why these are sought after...the enjoy-ability is just indescribable. It brings out that player in you.

After playing 3 different Lesters this is the one that won hands down. Great neck shape, feels like a worn in pair of jeans. The tone from the pickups just floored me. Couldnt wait to get it home. Playing through a Marshall Super Lead Plexi and a Roccaforte Jenelle,I knew I had a winner here with this Les Paul. The plain top adds to the "play me dont just look at me" vibe.Dark Burst finish was age'd just enough to be sunk into the wood but still has a sheen that it's been taken care of over the years. VOS finish is spot on. I had a 1960 Les Paul Jr. that turned to a fire orange on the back of the neck and this one replecates the "years of playing " to a tee. Cant rate this high enough. I am on the hunt for a Lemon Burst to add to my collection...YES its that good !

I've been playing for over 40 years and have some special guitars. I've played many Les Pauls over the years but the minute I picked this one off the wall the difference was astounding. Extreme sustain and playability plus the craftmanship is outstanding. Everytime I open the case I feel like I'm looking at a vintage instrument. The neck is more C shaped and flatter which fits my hand perfectly and gives considerable leverage in string bending. The guitar was set up very close but plan on having your luthier check the intonation to dial it in. My only complaint, if you can call it that, is I'm not a big fan of the VOS coating they put on it to simulate the vintage look. However a good cleaning takes care of that and it still has the vintage Lemonburst look without the gunk. This is not a chambered light guitar but would not say it's an overweight instrument either. I happen to really like the plain tops and think it adds to the vintage look of this guitar without the crazy additional expense of the Flame top. Just finished a recording project and the sounds I got from this were amazing. All in all a good buy for the money. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

i owned a 1990, 1960's reissue classic les paul, which i regret getting rid of. i loved that guitar ! it was awesome. i now own this. it was well within my budget. it is the best guitar i have ever owned in my 30 years of playing. nothing comes close. the kicker? it has almost the same identical plain top as the 1960's classic model i used to have ! this is a "go" model. i am now looking for a 59 model, if it is as good as this one i will be a lucky man....and quite happy !

I am very happy, to say the least, with the Les Paul 1960 VOS Custom shop guitar I ordered from G.C. It plays so well I hate to put it down. It was set up well right out of the box. It is a work of art. The Lemonburst is beautiful, a timeless classic finish. The majority of my guitars are Gibsons and exclusively Les Pauls. There's just nothing else like them. The fit, the feel, the sound, the quality, that's what it's all about. The folks at guitar Center in Bartlett, TN are the greatest! Buddy, Josh, Ted, everyone there is like family to me. That is the way they make you feel. I am in the store a minimum of two days a week and everyone is just as helpful and courteous each time I am there. I no longer shop anywhere else for my guitars and gear. Thanks again for another pleasant experience.

I only have one bad thing to say about this guitar. It is VERY easy to break. The body is very heavy. So if you pick it up by the neck, chances are you'll break it in half. Several of my friends have Les Pauls and most of them have had to take it to get the neck repaired because it snapped in half. I have one and I just got back from the shop with it. It fell off of my stand (which was standing regular height upright) and snapped under its own weight. GREAT guitar. Be gentle.
