Complex overtones, vintage feel, and wide frequency range.

The Gibson BurstBucker Pro Humbucker Pickup's characteristic sweet harmonic complexity and crystalline clarity derive from its slightly unmatched bobbin windings. Alnico V magnets are used in place of the traditional Alnico IIs, yielding fatter, meatier tone with more drive and attack. Provides classic Gibson "Patent Applied For" tone with a hint of attitude. BEST-Buster

I put one of these into the bridge position of my Epiphone Les Paul. I am a skilled tech but my volume pot was damaged when soldering. So I had to put a new one in (I used a Gibson pot, which has a larger diameter pot shaft - so I had to drill a hole in my guitar - yikes - But it worked out fine). Incredible tone difference! I now have a $550 guitar that plays and sounds like a $2000 guitar. Worth it. If you don't have the skillset, have a qualified tech do it for you.

Gibson Burstbucker Pro Humbucker Pickups

After owning my Dean VX for about seven years, I grew tired with the "flat" sound of its stock pickups. Since the Burstbucker Pro pickup had a slightly list price than the standard Gibson 490's and 498's, I figured there had to be something cool about it, so I bought one and put it in my Dean VX. After removing my stock humbuckers and preparing to install the Burstbucker in the bridge position, I noticed that the Burstbucker was much heavier than the ones that came out of my lower-end Dean VX. Part of the weight could be from the gorgeous chrome cover of the Burstbucker, but I suspect much of it is the extra copper winding that Gibson puts into the pickup for a thicker sound. Being somewhat mechanically declined, it took me a while to figure out how to solder the pickup in. The single shielded wire that comes our of the Burstbucker was much different than the two positive and negative wires that my stock pickups came with. After realizing that the shielding around the Burstbucker's wire actually WAS the ground, I felt like a dunce and had it soldered within a couple of minutes. When I finally got to plug it in, I noticed that the bass response was much more present and defined. The higher notes also sound crisp and cut through the mix in my home recordings without being shrill or overbearing. Overall, the tone was much clearer, thicker, and puncier than ever before. This was hands down the best thing I have ever done for my Dean VX. The guitar sound on my home recordings is much more clear and present. The pickup responds very well to my style of playing, and harmonics seem to jump out alot more than they did from my old pickups. The Gibson name pretty much guarantees that the product won't be cheap, but with the Burstbucker Pro, I definitely got what I paid for.

Harmonics Harmonics Harmonics

If you love artificial harmonics like I do, these are the pickups for you. They just leap out of the guitar with these bad boys. Strum a chord and then lightly release the pressure on the strings or lightly pinch the string between the pick and your thumb when soloing- you'll get great metal overtones. They're very rich and complex sounding. Great for anything from slightly overdriven tones to high gain. They're useable for clean tones but you may prefer a less aggressive pickup if that's your main sound.

Nice Thick Piece of Tone

I have a set of Burstbucker Pro pickups in my Les Paul. These pickups were the first reason I bought my Les Paul. Gibson has realy turned magnets into gold! Very, very, thick tone. Too often the thicker a pickups tone is, the hotter the pickup will be. Burstbucker Pros give a guitar a thick crunchy tone thats not too hot.

Great upgrade

I have an ES-333 and just recently upgraded the stock pickups (490, 498). I put the burstbucker pro in the bridge position and it has really made a big improvement on this guitar. The tones are much brighter and I can get that great 70's Aerosmith/Thin Lizzy crunch out of this guitar where it used to wash out towards metal. I run it through a Mesa Boogie F50 and this pickup has made a world of difference for the badass guitar sound I was looking for.
