Magical pickup from Gibson!

These are very special pickups! Definitely in the PAF category but feels like they added a few more winds to handle higher gain when needed. It's has that magical chirpy top end transient when your picking single notes for solos or rhythm. The mids are slightly hollow sounding which is classic PAF for me. It sounds perfectly at home for cleans, low gain, or high gain. If you find your lead sound with the tone and volume knobs all the way on you can easily back off the knobs for rhythm and semi-clean sounds. Basically if you only had a 1 channel amp and a boost pedal you can play an entire evening of songs without hitting any foot switches. Just control everything with the volume and tone knobs. It might be the perfect pickup.

Velvet warmth and articulate clarity, with plenty of heat when the power is turned up.These are the best pickups Gibson offers, and possibly the best pickups for Les Paul's in general. Smooth, vintage PAF tone without the shrill, airy bite of a Burstbucker. These pickups are reminiscent of Jimmy Page's tone on Led Zeppelin II.
Perfect, of course!

I updated my original 1961 Gibson ES355TD Mono guitar with the following: Replaced the 56 yr old original neck and bridge pickups, with a Gibson '57 Classic Humbucker for the bridge and a Gibson '57 Classic Plus Humbucker for the neck. Both are gold plated like the originals used to be. I also replaced the entire wiring for volume and tone controls, the input jack, and the toggle switch with an assembled Premium Kit by Mojotone for Gibson ES335s (same as for ES355s). Bourn pots, 600v oil-paper capacitors. Shielded 12 gauge wire. These pickups and wiring assembly are outstanding and bring out the full range of twangy country western sounds with the bridge pickup, all the way to full warm jazz with the neck pickup. And you can play really dirty with the gain clicked on. My amp is a Fender Pro Twin 25 watt / 100 watt with 12 tubes, 4 matched Russian Output Tubes, biased and balanced by yours truly. I highly recommend both of these pickups... as well as the Premium wiring assembly from Mojotone. Harry Lear

I got this pickup for my birthday. I put it in my Epi les paul 100. Man does it ever make a difference. It sounds fantastic both clean and distorted. At first I wasn''t sure if the guitar was the right one for me. Now I can't put it down. If you're considering buying one of these, do it you won't be let down
