  • Wouldn't gig without it.

As reviewed by Grooving on 10/17/2006

The Fishman Pro-EQ Platinum bass preamp packs a lot into a small package. The graphic EQ bands are placed in just the right spots for use with a bass. I use this both for my upright and electric bass. The phase switch is amazing for controlling feedback with my acoustic. I also have used this for recording. It's a high quality preamp and is quiet. The case is very solid and holds up under the stress of gigging. Overall, this is a well engineered and great pre-amp. I don't play anywhere with out it.

  • A Must Have

As reviewed by Moses on 3/31/2010

This preamp is a MUST for any gigging upright bass player. The impedance buffer is a complete necessity, the DI out will make you the soundman's best friend, the feedback switch is a LIFESAVER while you're on stage, and the compression, depth, and EQ functions give you completely control over the complex subtleties of your instrument's tone. Does an electric bassist need this? No, but its a nice addition. Does an upright bassist need this? ABSOLUTELY. I honestly can't imagine playing a live gig without it.

  • Dial the boom to the room

As reviewed by Wayne Robinson on 7/19/2010

This EQ/preamp totally solved an overabundance of low end "mud" that was plaguing my tone. My Michael Kelly Dragonfly 5 (fretless) produces lots of very low frequencies, and played through an SWR Black Beauty (15' ported cab) this EQ lets me dial in the lowest frequencies that are amplified. For my purposes, the Depth control is the most important knob on this unit and makes it easy to adjust to different sized rooms. My Ibanez EDB-605 also sounds better, although it doesn't need as much low-end cut as the Michael Kelly. Very happy with the unit. It's made it more fun to play since I'm happy with my tone.
