Clearance Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus Electric Guitar Transparent Charcoal Maple Fretboard

I purchased this guitar about 5 years ago after not playing for years. My only previous guitars were squier strats that were well...........you know. So I decided to upgrade a little. I got the guitar and realized I had forgotten most of what I knew. The guitar sat around the house in a case for about 5 years, then earlier this year I decided to purchase an acoustic and get serious. I did serious and I've always felt this guitar was the nicest one I owned. I switched the strings to super slinky 9's which may be the cause of my fret buzz on the lower e string towards the nut. I started playing a few jam sessions with some local guys. That's when I realized what I had purchased in this Tele. They all saw it was tele but they thought it was modded. So everyone always wants to play it. Again, I am a novice and these guys are casual players as well. But they couldn't stop commenting on the tele. It's sound, tone, feel and straightness. I've had offers triple of what I paid for it. So far, every time I play someone else's " more expensive ", " American Tele ".........I'll be keeping mine for a long time to come.

I bought this a while back. It looked great. After a while of playing it i started feeling like this guitar needed a lot of improvements... And it also felt like the guitar wasn't made with too much thought. Its supposed to be a "modern" take on the telecaster but it had old style tuners that are hard to install strings on. I bought some hipshot locking tuners and I had to drill out the peg holes. The wiring on it is really complicated for someone like me. So upgrading the pickups will require me to take it to someone. It could've been a great guitar but there was very little attention to detail. I've since turned it into a single humbucker with locking tuners and I love it. But without all the work I would not buy this guitar again.

The honey burst version of this model is just beautiful, it was amazing to take it out of the box once it was delivered. This guitar is SUPER heavy, thought I'd made a big mistake but I think it's slightly lighter than my Les Paul Custom. This is my first Tele so I'm still getting use to the layout - I really don't like the switch being directly below my picking hand, seems to get in the way - I'll be looking at reversing it. The pickups sound like weak and will need to be replaced. I also don't like the bridge stems so will probably replace those. If I hadn't gotten this guitar essentially for free via some gift cards I received, I would have ponied up a few extra dollars to get a better model. I estimate it'll cost an addition $500 to get this guitar to where it's usable. Lastly, I've always had rosewood fretboards and really hate the maple - it's super sticky even when playing for just a short period - same with the back of the neck. Obviously, you'll need to have the guitar set up - it was way off but I got it to play pretty nicely with the proper adjustments so the neck, etc. were in good shape.

The nut groves were cut to low causing fret buzz. Had to replace the nut and have a total fret leveling done. GC tech was horrible. Fender did not want to cover it under warranty. I had to bring it somewhere else to have the work done after paying GC to set it up.
