Awesome guitar. Wanted a quality guitar, but didn't have the money for an American strat. After playing this thing though, who cares if its an MIM. Great sustain and same quality strat with better features/add-ons than you get with some more expensive models.
I might not agree that it's really versatile (unless you add some effects/tweaks; i did and it sings!), but I would recommend this guitar to anyone who plays primarily rock blues, metal, hard rock, or wants something hot to build on.
If possible, I would reccomend testing out the humbucker before buying though. It definitely sounds good for some, but if you dig that single coil sound more, the Roadhouse strat might work better with 3 texas single-coils. By the way, spring for the sunburst finish. It looks incredible with the tortoise pickguard.
The Fender Lonestar Strat is one of the best MIM strats on the market today. Loaded with Texas Special pickups (used on the much more expensive SRV model) and a Duncan Pearly Gates humbucker, the strat gives you that nice sparkle and grow that strats are known for, with the added potential to release crunchier riffs with the Pearly Gates. I bought this guitar as a "understudy," so to speak, for my more expensive guitars, such as an original '59 Les Paul and a custom '79 Strat, among others. Running head to head with the latter, the Lonestar strat held its own against my modified '79, a testament to the good work Fender did on this guitar. While many condemn the arctic white finish, I think it looks great overall! My only concern is that the tremolo has only three springs. Do yourself a favor and get two more. All in all this is an excellent instrument worthy of the Fender namesake.
I just bought this guitar and it is truely amazing. The tone is unbelievable. I have 7 other guitars but this one is my new favorite. I play it through a Fender Supersonic combo amp. The sound is amazing. I cannot say enough about this guitar. Even my bass player is completely impressed with it(He plays guitar also). I would recommend this guitar to anyone.
